I was mowing with the belly mower, going along fine, heard a click ,click click etc.... thought it was a stick or branch caught in mower then it stopped suddenly.what do you think would cause this? This is a B1750 and was using the middle pto.I am thinking of cleaning out the broken pieces and jb welding the case for for now.

Sorry but that is nasty. My main concern would be the trash that is left behind and difficult to get out.

What ever caused the lower ears to be cracked/broken, is probably the root cause of the pto failure.

I have only had this tractor for about a year, not sure of past history,I think it's about a 1992, maybe someone over used and stressed it,I have not even used the rear PTO for anything.maybe bearings and gears were not shimed right from factory or some one didn't put it together right........I don't think hitting something with the mower deck blades would cause a gear to shred like that.

I see six threaded holes for fasteners and one hole for a locating dowel.

One hole is filthy. Was there a fastener there?

One hole in the upper left is not round.

Based on all the cracked castings the 3pt has been badly overloaded. JB weld is not going to fix that. It would be a challenge for a skilled welder.

All the bolts came out fine,it looks oblong because of wide angle photo.

I was only going to JB weld the area that cracked by the PTO cover right side., not the lower supports

It looks like the damage started some time ago while a rear attachment was being driven. A gear tooth in the 150 gear likely broke out and later, while using the mid-pto, the broken tooth became jammed, breaking the rest.

It may be possible to replace the 150 and its mating gear - but other parts may be damaged. Its a pretty serious failure - reinstating the pto function may not be easy.

Yes, I agree, hopefully not more damage internally.
