I am a new owner of a 2009 Kubota L 3400 HST. It is operatong just fine now but a HST is new to me. So, my question is that in case I have a breakdown (tractor quits running) in the future I will not do the wrong thing. Parts of my property are in the timbered area and it would be impossible to get a trailer to the location would it hurt anything is all selectors were in nuetral to tow it with another tractor to the trailer?

Thanks- Oldstuff

Putting the range selector in neutral should disconnect the wheels from any of the hydraulics. It'd probably be a good idea to make sure it's not in 4wd.
With any luck you'll never need to tow it. I can't imagine it'd be a fun job.

What would be the recommendation to do with the loader if you could not run the engine and loader down and you need to tow? Is dropping/undocking the loader the only option if you need to tow it?

It would be easier to jack or winch the bucket up, then relieve the pressure with the loader valve. Unless a hose is ruptured, the loader will stay in place for at least a couple of hours. Don't forget you need hydraulic pressure to remove the loader, unless you have additional lifting equipment.

My neighbor towed my JD 4010 from my back yard to the driveway and towed the lemony JD 1025R from the back hill up to the carriage house. Just put both tractors' HSTs in "N". He towed with a strap that ran underneath the FEL to hold it up out of the way. Think both had the brush hogs dragging.

loader is easy...
connect comealong between bucket and ROPS, place loader control to 'lift' (need helper or strap...., use comealong to raise the bucket. Add a second strap as a safety, in case the comealong breaks. If it does, go buy a lottery ticket cause the odd of it breaking are astronomical !

well it wasn't 'LOL' back then....
after that I made wooden U-shaped 'supports' to block the bucket up about a foot off the ground ,'transport' height.

towing backwards is GREAT until you see you're going AWAY from the house......:(
