I am the proud new owner of a B7100DT. I just wanted to thank everyone who posts on the site as the information contained here was invaluable in helping me make an informed purchase. I couldn't have done it without you, keep up the good work!
Mine was horizontal when I got it and the PO liked to leave the FEL sitting at just the right height for the exhaust to cook the left hand FEL hydraulic lines.Might want to unbolt your muffler and give it a quarter turn and run it paralle to the hood. I flipped mine up like that, rain water got down in it, rusted it out and it fell off.
Sounds like that would be kinda loud.Mine was orgionally horizontal when I bought it and I flipped my up cause I thought it looked cooler and better that way. Then it rusted out on me and now I have no exhaust on mine.
Not sure about this, but years ago, on a 4WD club run, I ripped the exhaust off my Landcruiser and an old boy on the run insisted that I cover the end of the remaining head pipe with a rag when I shut the engine off. He claimed it would prevent cold air from being drawn into the engine & warping the hot valves......my only concern is am I doing any damage to the motor by not having an exhaust on.
