Got my bx2380 yesterday (Friday the 13th). Pulled out 5 stumps with the loader. Ended up getting her stuck in a ditch. Had to get my ATV to rescue. I have lawn tires.
Busy day. Congrats on the new tractor though!

Added a Fire Extinguisher. After having had my Scag Zero Turn burn to the ground recently....I thought it well to have an extinguisher on board. I Have one in each of our vehicles, in the house, shop, etc...so makes sense to have one here too.

Actually had one on the Scag ....but the plastic pull pin broke when I pulled it, jamming the trigger.

All have metal pins now.

Anyway, mounted it in a Quick Detach mount as much out of the way of things as you can achieve on a Compact Tractor.

Hope to never have to use it.

That lilac tree is a real survivor. I planted it about 12 years ago. The deer are relentless on it every winter. It's finally tall enough that it has significant flowers that make it now.
Looks good! I have a few mature lilacs in my yard. For a few short weeks, the smell is incredible!

What kind of log is that?
Southern Yellow Pine (SYP). The trees were felled about 4 months ago so the bark is easily removed which makes for clean logs.

There were over 50 logs and I have sawn about half of them.

Here is 6348 board feet of framing lumber stickered and drying. I am now sawing 1X10's, etc. for Board & Batten siding.

Knocking the loose bark off of the logs is a simple matter.

Here is 3091 bf of 1"X10", etc. that I sawed today. Two stacks seen to the left of the framing lumber that pictured yesterday It will be used for Board & Batten siding.

Nice looking logs. I planted 100 ponderosa pines (yellow pine) here prolly 40 years ago.
They didn't do as well as I thought they would. Nice enough trees after all these years, but not nearly as nice as the native white pines do here. Just sayin is all. The domestic varieties always perform better in their native environment.

That's a good two days' work! I'm curious - my understanding is the commercial mills want fresh logs, bluing or insects? Also, are pines cut in the winter or summer better, or does it matter?

Commercial sawmills will only take fresh felled logs because they have no way to otherwise know that there is no rot/decay/etc. I prefer to saw logs that have been felled 4-6 months for the reason shown with them shedding the bark and giving me clean logs.

I used my most expensive wheelbarrow to spread the last of 16yds of mulch at the front lawn / woods planting area.

front bed.jpg

Since this is prime deer area I have to be careful what additional plants we put in there. Spirea looks like the best bet so far.

There will be about 8 more yds used in the back lawn / woods plantings. Next week is the target for that.

Funny you should mention spirea. My sister just sent a picture of this she moved from our mother's house. She also has some white that the deer bed right next to.

and many people say that backhoes on CUTS are just a toy. No, sometimes, they are just the tool needed.

Head home. :)

Lower part of the graveled switchback going to the dam had a silted in ditch on one side and was starting to wash down the middle. Hydraulic sidelink made cleaning the ditch and smoothing the path a quick touch up job. Much easier to touch up this sort of thing once in a while than to let it go and do a significant rehab. Only about 15 minutes to fix, not counting the 5 minute warmup.
