Back in 2019 I posted about fixing my tractor's ailing HST. It's been running fine since. I had bought a nearly new replacement HST unit in case I needed it - but mine only needed new cradle bearings, which I ordered from Kubota.

An HST transmission rarely fails, but if it doesn't move a tractor can be useless. I still have this extra HST unit and by now I'm pretty sure my tractor won't be needing it. If anybody does need one I'd part with it. It fits Lxx10 models (Here's one that was recently listed on eBay).

I'd like to get what I have in it around $1600. You pick up or figure truck freight for 130 lb. from MA. On the Lxx10 models, replacement requires a split behind the clutch housing. The price of a new one is $6k+ now (!) This unit also fits the L48 - which has an under-frame to remove first - see my old thread above.

I'd also consider buying a tractor with ailing HST as-is. (Retired and have time for a project) Hope this post doesn't violate any forum rules. Take care, Dick B

My 2006 L48 TLB has 252 total hours........sure hope I'll never need a replacement HST.

Your HST should be fine for a long time. My worn one had around 2000 hours - I bought it knowing it needed work. No regrets - its a very handy machine. Mostly I like the QA grapple and forks' 2400 lb rating. Dick B
