Hello all,
So my dealer has found me a mx5400 tractor they traded for. The one I ordered still has not come in. But they traded for this tractor and got it in house. Only thing is it has 13.6x28 rear R1 tires on it. This is going to be a field farming tractor a lot so I wanted R1s. This tractor will sometimes work in heavy wet clay so I thought I wanted 14.9x26. They are not able to find any used ones just to get me going. Does the 1.3" tire width make that big of a difference with rutting / compaction? What would be the better choice for me? Taller but thinner or wider but not as tall.
I guess the 2" extra ground clearance will help with ground clearance for spraying and side dressing too but I always thought I wanted a wider tire in that clay. Maybe the 1.3" isn't that big of deal and I should just take it as is?
