Camco exhaust pipe install

So after finding info here about soot buildup I got a Camco 44862 extension pipe to eliminate soot buildup on the FEL. I was wondering how others have installed theirs; a quick look makes me think that cutting off the 'fat' end of the pipe will be the best fit (small end of pipe fits over exhaust outlet, big end too big).

Has anyone cut their pipe before fitting it to the exhaust? My plan is to cut off the fat section, then slide that end onto the exhaust pipe, angled slightly out. It seems as though it will stay on with a press friction fit.

Any suggestions, please advise! Thanks in advance!

Maybe this will help. Here's mine on B2650. I put a little slit in the pipe and used a hose clamp. Hasn't budged at all.

I also used the Camco 44682. I however did a little trimming and shortening. I used a small self tapping screw to secure it.

I'm looking for a real automotive-style clamp, one with a large U bolt and a stamped metal shoe; 1-1/2" iirc.

I put an extension on the exhaust on my BX, drilled a small hole and put in a short sheet metal screw so it wouldn't fall off. Next time I had to pull the bonnet off, the screw was gone, but I really had to twist and pull to get it off. When I put it back on, I put another screw in it, which was also gone the next time I looked. So I gave up and just shove it back on now, and it's always tight when I have to remove it.
Don't ask me why....

You can find the flat metal band clamps in good automotive stores. It uses a flat thin steel band that goes around the pipe and a single bolt and two half round 'washers' to pull the clamp tight. Once they are tight, the never loosen up but can be easily removed. The work in tight spaces much better.

I decided that the pipe hangs too low so I'm gonna cut off about an inch or so......If I can get it off! I wedged it on there pretty good, not sure if it's gonna come off or not...Might be better to just leave it on as is...I did get 3 clamps (stainless, zinc-plated & mild steel) but they do take up some room and I sure don't wanna hook a front tire on a protruding bolt...NO SOOT ON THIS FEL
