Quick attach carnage

I was using my forks to move some small logs around to my wood splitter log pile. I had to push some branches etc. out of the way to get to the logs. Somehow the right side of the forks disconnected from the quick attach plate. This then placed all of the weight and leverage on the left side of the quick attach plate and twisted the plate. The loader was not damaged. The quick attach assembly is on nationwide back order but my dealer ordered a new quick attach frame and will transfer the parts needed to repair. I am glad I have KTAC insurance and a good dealer. In the future I will take the few extra minutes and use the grapple.

Thanks for sharing. Glad your dealer and KTAC are going to take care of replacement for you . Early on with my tractor I had a lever get unlatched by a branch as I was grappling. Not sure if that is what caused yours to come unlatched on the one side, but I sure do keep a eye on the levers now.

Are you sure it's bent? To me, it just looks like your loader cylinders are just out of time. Look at how much of the piston rod is visible on each side.

Put your left side SSQA up against something (like a tree) and try to put the loader into dump position. The right side should extend and catch up the the left side.

The “pipe“ between them is probably bent and twisted.

There are several threads that discuss repair by manipulating the parts or replacing the “pipe”

If you need to use it before new parts come in..., find where the bend is, cut the pipe, insert 12" sleeve, 'reset' the frame(both cylinders same and mtgs aligned, weld tube back together, should be 'good to go'.

Thats what I was thinking too Jay, but he has the Ins so yeah go that way,,, HOWEVER I would ask the dealer for it back and THEN cut and weld and put on CL

Exactly what happened. Sadly this is an issue with a lot of the Kubota QA's.

I am hesitant to say "never", but my (L48 TLB) quick attach levers are hydraulically operated, so I do not think they would open even if caught on something.

Here's a simple, inexpensive solution to prevent this from happening.

Drill a 1/4" hole near the end of each lever. Insert an appropriate length bungee cord in one hole, run it under the tubing you twisted and hook the other end in the hole in the opposite lever!

If you use a grapple one for sure needs to be aware of the locking pins position. Check at time on moving levers down, then double check by raising loader and actually seeing the pins in position.

If I ever have a SSQA, I noted a while ago that the first modification would be that one.

I bought my L48 from a private party, who was the original owner.
Thus, it came to me with the hydraulic bucket lock system already installed.
It is a custom built system, and uses a diverter in the 3rd function hydraulics.

I absolutely love it, because it means that this 81 year old guy never needs to dismount, to change from bucket to forks.
Obviously a dismount is still required when using the grapple, to connect the grapple hydraulic hoses.

I am still 1,500 miles away from my Kubota until May, so no pictures are possible.

Just too cold in the Northland this time of year, for old people.

Man, the Kubota quick attaches are still on back order? I ordered one well over a year ago and every time my dealer checked, Kubota moved the delivery date ahead. I finally gave up and cancelled it.

JMO, the grapple is wider and will push branches back away from handles. I can see the grapple better from the seat than I can see the ends of the forks.
Final answer, I have not damaged the tractor using the grapple and I have damaged the tractor using the forks to remove brush and logs.
