Today we changed transmission filters and oil in my B2410. After changing the filters and adding new oil, and a test drive, which went just fine, I got to thinking about the oil I just added. It was in a Kubota Udt2 container I got this jug of oil from the guy i bought the tractor from last December.
The oil from this jug was more of a dark tea color, where the oil I added from a jug that I had on hand was a real light honey color. Has Kubota had different color oils?
My best judgement tells me to remove a filter, let the transmission oil drain oil, and add new from a jug that I have purchased from my dealer. Then possibly change oil later in the summer also.
Does this make any sense ?

Was it sealed? If not, I'd replace it right now.

If it was sealed, and you are sure of the label, I wouldn't worry about it.

I'm with Mark - whatever that old jug was ---- was the seal broken or not?

Hell, sometimes I will open a new gallon of oil , use a quart and place the cap back on it - but most times I place my used oil IN AN OLD container...... but I have a sharpie and I write in big letters on the cap -USED!!!

got to agree I put used oil in different containers and even have oil from 5 gal cans that I have moved to gallon jugs to make it easy to pour and I have gotten confused as to if it is hyd or motor oil. when in doubt it becomes chain saw oil

I agree to be cautious but I will say that I take my empty UDT2 jug to my Kubota dealer and he fills from his 55 gallon UDT2 system for me. Doesn’t charge me. I stand and watch while the tech does it. I try to remember to write the date it was filled on it. Nice, but I’m sure he more than makes up for it on all that I spend there.

Yes…that’s a very generous dealer….if it really is UDT2.

This thread is ripe with unknown / overlooked disinformation.

There is no UDT2!
There is UDT
There was SUDT (obsolete)
There is SUDT2

UDT will be an amber color
SUDT2 is closer to clear

Just though I should point it out.

Plus the SUDT2 is called Kubota Premium UDT in Canada. Close to clear.

It always surprises me when companies go to the expense of relabeling their products for a Canadian market (population) that is only 10% the size of the US market.

It's the regulatory government agencies that set their country's labeling requirements, no? As well, all labels in Canada have to sport French as well as English, so relabeling for companies here in Canada has long since been the standard.

Thank you North Idaho Wolfman, for pointing this out. This explains the color difference that I noticed.
I for one should learn to read labels better.
I did lake a filter off today and let the oil drain out, replaced the filter and filled back up with SUDT2

Actually different markets often have different suppliers. Canada may different from USA which is usually different from Mexico and South America. Same goes with every other region of the world.
I am pretty sure the supplier for Premium UDT in Canada is not Valvoline or Ashland Oil. So the product will be different and I also believe it is not a full synthetic as SUDT is marketed as.

If the premium udt is fully synthetic it is the deal of the year at $35 CAD for 5 liters. it is very clear and hard to see on the dip stick

I found this to be true as well. Just did a full service on my b7510. Old fluid looked a tad milky. I shopped around for compatible fluids and found that kubota (messicks) was the cheapest for a 5 gal pail of s-udt2 at $113.00. I was actually surprised. Amsoil was nearly double the cost at $189.00 (plus shipping cost) I couldn't find anyone locally to me that was a mstic dealer and didn't care for the non synthetic oil, but would have substituted if it was cheap enough.

Like mentioned it was crystal clear coming out of the pail, and very hard to see on the dip stick.
