The power coming up to the house from solar panels in my back pasture is 240V, would seem possible to pull off a line to charge a tractor directly. A big farm usually has some land that can't be used for crops, too wet, too rocky that could support some panels for a charging station. My small cluster of panels doesn't interfere with grass for the sheep. I do have to fence out the horses for the safety of the panels.

Actually what I personally don't like about this stuff is that it is geared toward big farms, where what is planted, fertilized, sprayed is manipulated by big Pharma so to speak. It leads to massive numbers of acres planted in a monoculture and laid bare for wind erosion. Call me old fashioned.

sadly the 'lot' is actually 10s of MILLIONS !

EVERY time I've reduced MY power consumption, the COST of the KwH has gone UP
relamped all the incandescents to CFLs.... hydro rate went up
replamped all teh CFLs to LEDs, hydro rate went up
switched stuff to 'off hours', hydro rates went up...

I'm still trying to understand WHY we 'need' cars with 300-400-500 HP...
Because we can. People with low performance minds buy low performance cars.

Other than the cities, I don't see or read of any charging stations going in. 3 phase power is not available in this neck of the woods.
The plan seems to be to eliminate transportation.
The progressives want people to move back to cities.

If you own a home, you really need some sort of truck. Unless your in the city and have someone haul off everything for you.

We have a car that gets 30+ mpg. And a 330hp truck to do what the car can't. The truck does double duty and enough room to haul all the grandkids as well. 👍👍👍

If my wife worked close to the house, I would be driving her car back and forth to work and she would be driving the truck.

Since we both have a similar commute, I drive the truck.

Id buy a Tesla truck if electricity was dirt cheap and we had a bunch of nuclear powerplants creating the electricity. I say we put all the nuke plants in California

Thats funny I had a very similar discussion with a fellow one time, about how my truck was a gas guzzler and his little mazda was getting X miles to the gallon. I asked him if you could get a ton of horse droppings ,or pull a trailer with 4 horse's how about a half a cord of fire wood or a ton of gravel for the drive way, He said of course not, and I said thats why I drive a truck because I can do all those things.

yep solar takes care of my house and shop april -november 0 electric bill. less than a 10 year payback faster with elec rates rising. Would buy a electric tractor in a heartbeat if the price was at all competitive. all that weight it would be a beast. heat pumps also make sense. wish I would have bought a hi bred car when they were still an affordable option. I nover thought about electric but maybe should have

The only, long term, 24/7 'alternative energy' that make sense(cents) to me is ground water geothermal. It not only provide cheap heat and cooling, it can also supply electricity. If you're young and own your forever home, it'd be the way to go.

That e25 is interesting. Using their numbers ,it'll be 40,000 Canucks PLUS dealer prep/shipping AND 13% taxes... so close to 50K. It'd cost me $13.25 per charge, though the V/A/H numbers are screwy.....
My BX23S cost me far less, came with a backhoe and doesn't cost me $13 to use it every 4-6 hours. It'll also run in the Winter !

The 4 main problems with ALL battery vehicles is 1...ACTUAL, USEFUL runtime ,2.the ACTUAL 100% recharge time and 3) the COST to replace the energy and 4) the COST to replace the battery.

I think the heat pump depends on where you live. In North bay it may not make sense to use a ductless mini split because it gets too cold for too long. But in Nova scotia it is very logical because most of the winter is in the sweet spot around the freezing mark. You get a few cold weeks but most of the winter is between -10 and +5

With Lithium up almost 500% in the last 12 months I do not see an battery vehicle of any type in my future. will need a mortgage to buy a new drill battery

agree heat pumps like 'minisplits' which are all AIR based ,are useless up here... I'd only consider GROUND SOURCED heat pumps as the ones to use. my KwH cost is already 25 cents /hr, sigh....

no one ever seems to print the REAL costs to recharge EVs, or how well they work in say NordBay ,eh !

Just wait until one of those things goes rogue and plows through a couple buildings and runs over a bunch of livestock.
The fine print in the sales contract will say JD isn't responsible for any damage or loss of life due to malfunctions.
