Per my other posts, I just got a D950 patched up and running. However, it is obvious to me that it cranks over slower than normal. Even when jumping off a running vehicle and confirming that I am getting 11.3V during cranking at the starter (which is roughly normal), it just does not crank worth a damn. I inspected the brushes and commutator is is good shape. Certainly not the issue. I meter tested all bars, but didn't test the rotor as i didn't have all my tools.
Starter pulls 150A. I'd like to figure out if there are other starters for these? Only one variant? Need to see if there are any options out there. This is a direct drive starter and I REALLY want a gear reduction or 'high torque' starter on it. Sort of ridiculous how much this tiny diesel struggles.
I know this is not a fuel timing or binding issue.
