M6-101 Regens every 2-3 hours, is this the beginning of a big problem?

My M6-101 has recently begun to regen every few hours and I'd like to know why. We are in winter and it's been cold and nasty but when we've operated the tractor we make sure RPM's are up to at least 1500 for easier tasks like pulling a fertilizer buggy but between 2200 - 2300 for heavier duty tasks. I can't think of anything that we are doing differently that is causing the regen to cycle more frequently. Although I will say the tractor sits much more this time of year, most of the time in the shop but sometimes we have to set it outside for periods of time, though we don't like to do so.

Am I beginning to see an emerging problem with the DPF filter or some part of that system or is it due to inactivity, weather conditions or something else? The tractor may be operating as designed. I'm just wondering if it's normal for times like these when the tractor sits more or whether I should start saving now for an expensive repair that is in the not too distant future.

Thanks in advance for any insight into what I'm experiencing.

Andy,

I cannot speak about regen - all my machines are under the ol 25 hp limit.

Have you ever tried to run the rpms up a bit more when doing the "easier tasks?" I would think that running the machine up around 80% of WOT "would" reduce the regen frequency.

There are those here who know the inside and outside of the regeneration process and can help you a great deal, hopefully they will chime in soon.

I think you have something going wrong we have a few machines we are running like you're using your's and never have any regaining in only 2~3 hours. You might want to get the dealer out to have a look at it with their computer that's just not normal.

just started due to Winter cold ??
if so maybe engine not hot enough and that 'triggers' the regen cycle ??

I'm thinking colder so engine doesn't burn nice, is 'sootier', 'computer' say regen !

might be an 'hours issue' ?

without seeing the computer code to what triggers a 'regen cycle' hard to say exactly why.

Does not sound right.

I would certainly be concerned.
