Edit,
Looks like it should be a 51R right?
Thanks,
KC
Ok, The B7001's battery is toast.
It is 8 years old and has not wanted to start the tractor this winter if the temperature was under 40* F (~4* C - if I remember right...). Any way last night I went to pull it around to swap some parts around for a FEL that I purchased and I had to jump it off (temps in the upper 60's) I got it to start with the 50Amp Jump setting but that was it. When I went to start it again this morning, WEAK. Even with the 50Amp Jump setting it will not spin the engine fast enough to start...
OK, the battery in there is a car battery that like I said is 8 years old. It doesn't realy fit and causes me to have to shift the hood over to get it in.

Question:
What is the family (# designation) I should be looking for to get the battery into the hole w/o causing me problems closing the hood.
Any one want to look at their B7001 or B7100 and give me the battery # It should be a alpha-numeric with hyphen (like 41-b).
Thanks, If there is a listing of battery families for the different models I could not find it.
I'll post photos of the FEL when I get it up and running.

It's the same battery that fits an older Honda Civic. Seems to work fine in mine...

Don't know the group number though off the top of my head. Costco carries them if that helps. Just find the skinny one and you'll be set.

Speaking here from experience only.
The 51R is the correct size for my B7001. and a number of other models. Of course, this only refers to the physical dimensions and terminal layout. The CCA is specified separately. Yes you do need high CCA for larger engines, but a 750cc engine does not take a lot to crank it over.
I shopped around quite a bit, ended up getting one from the local Kubota dealer. Higher CCA and lower cost.

Mine has an Everstart 51R-4, 520 cranking amps, 435 cold cranking amps, going on 4 years old, works great!

Went with a 56 series, just a little deeper than the 51, but fits inline with the engine.
Has 670 / 500 amps. Wow that old battery was tired... this thing spins fast now!

Very little use on a 51R Interstate Battery on a b7100, in two years. Won't hold a charge now. My guess is vibration killed it.

Looking for an AGM 51R. Seem to be uncommon but looks like Exide makes one.

A battery will go "bad" from sitting a while too - I just replaced one in my B7100, Wally-world, right at $100.....It was a 51R, so far no problems.
Vibrations can cause problems, but I wonder if there is anymore on a tractor than a car hitting pot holes:D;)

Doesn't look like Deka has a 51R AGM, but I see Exide does, FPAGM51R.

Also, Advance Auto has a "Platinum" Series 51R AGM.

I guess because of the rarity of size, you pay more for this AGM than you would, say for a large tractor or automobile.

I ended up with the Advance Auto Platinum AGM 51R. It has a 3 year warranty, 100% refund, but after that, you are on your own.

It was twice the cost of the non-AGM battery. It has a carry handle and says it is made in Korea.
