best RPM for B tractor

I am new to Diesel tractors and on my old gassers I generally run at the lowest rpm to get the work done without bogging down the engine. In the manual it says to run at a lower rpm this is what the manual says
Do not Operate the Tractor at Full Speed
for the First 50 Hours
A Do not start quickly nor apply the brakes suddenly.
A In winter, operate the tractor after fully warming up the
engine.
A Do not run the engine at speeds faster than
necessary.
A On rough roads, slow down to suitable speeds.
Do not operate the tractor at fast speed.
The above precautions are not limited only to new
tractors, but to all tractors. But it should be especially
observed in the case of new tractors.

On this site I have read several places that people run the tractors at WOT or at least at the speed where the pto speed is correct (2800 rpm). Does it hurt anything to run the tractor at a lower rpm for plowing backblading and loader work? I have been running at 1100-1800 rpm If the tractor bogs down I raise the rpm. Is this correct or should I be running at a higher rpm for general work? I have 20 hours on the tractor

I read on a different tractor site that the engine will run best if run between max torque and max hp on this engine the max torque is 2400 rpm and the max hp is 3600 rpm. Lugging is the worst thing to do? Is any of this true. Will it matter if I run at lower rpm or will I do harm at lower rpm as there is more risk of lugging?

Lugging any engine is a bearing killer. You increase oil film thickness with RPM.

That's where my machines run most of the time. Mowers run at 540 PTO speed which on the L3901 is 2500 as does the 3pt log splitter.

I run our B2601 (17 hours now) at 1600 to 1800 up/down hills and FEL work and 2300-2400 for the PTO.

Never actually "run" or operate the tractor at its 1100 rpm idle speed.

I thought the video said the loader lift does not gain lift power if the rpm is higher at least that is what I heard maybe the wrong video on rpm and using a loader. in any event i will run between 1800 and 2200 for now I think that will be ok. if it starts to bog I will add rpm..

yes and no. When you are putzing around doing loader work at 1600-2000 RPM and ease that 60" bucket into a pile of fill or stone to get a full bucket, expect the engine to lug down to 1100 RPM, which is bad.

On a B2601 in order to not lug the motor you will prob need to be upwards of 2200+. For any real PTO work, full throttle.

yes and no. When you are putzing around doing loader work at 1600-2000 RPM and ease that 60" bucket into a pile of fill or stone to get a full bucket, expect the engine to lug down to 1100 RPM, which is bad.

On a B2601 in order to not lug the motor you will prob need to be upwards of 2200+. For any real PTO work, full throttle.

You do not get more loader power at higher engine RPM. You get more engine power. If the RPM is too low the hydraulic load on the engine will drag it down and possibly stall it. Higher RPM will also get you more hydraulic flow which will increase the speed at which the loader moves.

thank you all for the input with the farmall and 8n I would only really rev the engine when earth plowing or really pulling. other wise I keep it in the middle of the throttle I will use a higher rpm on the little B

When digging into piles of stone or into dirt, you may need upwards of 3,000 or more rpm. This was the case on my JD2025R. First job for my 18.5 hp 4010 JD was to move 22 tons of stone to along my tractor path when it was new.
