I've seen numerous posts where people make passing mention of their bikes. I would have to say my "daily rider" for the most part is a restored 79Yamaha XS1100 F, or standard. It's on the lift now waiting for me to finish an oil and final drive fluid change. View attachment 75600

That's a Beautiful bike.👍
Thank you. Was best purchase in my life up till bought this Kubota 2-14-22. I love the 114 engine. Had the stage1 tuning for the Vance & Hines pipes. I ride 1 time a month every month at least. Went in to buy a used bike in 2020, ended up with this new 1. Wife asking me Wich I like better now. I say BOTH

My last (2) rides. When we hit 65 my wife said she didn't want to ride anymore. Too many idiot cagers masturbating with their "I" phones going down the road. Friends of ours took two massive hits because of that. She figured that we would be in a real mess if both of us went down. So after 41 years of biking I too decided to pack it in. Sold both bikes and replaced them with..............

Yup, da Lion sleeps tonight but da Dragon never sleeps. Tail of the Dragon

Google it for many pictures.
Ridden it many times! You make of it what you want. If you are into balls to the wall it could be the ride of a lifetime.
Last time I was down there on my FJR met two women riding 'busas that were making runs through it. On one run they passed me and my son on one of really severe turns - scared the crap out of me as they went by, never saw them coming.

The dragon looks like almost every road I travel every single weekend. Around here, not quite as "long".

hence, always looking for a way to improve the handling in the Mustang.

27 from Marshall to Hector is fun (You arkies know where this is right?). Outta Marshall, not too much to write home about, just lots of neat scenery. You're riding along at 55-60 mph and then an unmarked switchback that you had better be at 25 if you're in a pickup truck, in my little car 50 is about all I can handle. I get skittish, straight down on one side, rock bluff going up on the other. Then once that's over, straight stretch for a while, and then a series of S-surves, etc. Repeat over and over. Nice little ride. Once you get closer to Hector, there's a USFS recreation area that's fun to take along a fly rod and some gear. Smallmouth! Crystal clear Illinois Bayou (well clear most of the time...) I bet it's rolling today with all the melt.

Then Hwy 9 from Allison to Melbourne, another fun one. On that one today, headed to GF's parents house.

Pig trail (Hwy 23) is on my list, ain't been there (yet). Too icy and wet or I'd have been out there today.

Hwy 14 from Allison to Big Flat (and maybe beyond?)....another fun one. Watch the animals! Old GF and I rode that on her V-star 650 and came very close to hitting a momma black bear near fifty-six. Current GF's momma grew up over there and they still have some property out there. I can't wait til it's dried up enough to head over there. No cell signal, no noise, just wildlife. HARD to get into (walk/hike only) but worth it, camp for a few days. GF don't care for being that far "out" but I like it. Eat what you can kill or catch (in my case usually catch). There are critters out there in the creek and in caves that are not known to exist, and that's all I'm saying...we don't need everyone showing up out there all at once.

Car's gonna get better brakes soon, still workin on gathering parts. Also gonna get a panhard bar kit, which I already have but ain't had time to put it on. Should make a tremendous difference.

The video posted earlier, I think I'm gonna get me a dash cam and take some video this Spring. I been wanting one anyway.

I figure the Gezzer Glide will be a barn find for someone someday, I have tried to sell it a couple times. Seems the kids all want crotch rockets, I could have sold the old Hayabusa ( 99) a dozen times over. But I traded it in for the HD. Kinda scared me pulling the front wheel at 80mph in 6th gear

a well it looks like there’s a number of FJR riders on here, including myself.

I removed the rear shock last night, as I have one on the way from partzilla. I need to replace the fork seals again. Had a local shop replace them last winter and I have one leaking. I’m also about to replace the steering stem bearings. So I’ll be taking off the forks anyway. Think I’ll take a look myself this time.

I also have an 1985 Honda cb125s. Came from the local motorcycle training course when they upgraded. As well as a 1999 Yamaha Yz 250. I actually inherited it from a buddy that moved and needed it stored for a while. That was 10 years ago. He has since given me the bike. I really need to get it about and go through it.

Gosh - - - some of those models bring back memories.

I had a couple K-series Kawasaki's when young, before the Fazer.

Remember riding some of my friends' bikes in the '80's...Don't hold me to exact #'s:

CB550 Honda - - my Dad's bike. 425 pounds of slug, but they always ran.
XS1100 Yamaha - - co-worker's - - great machine for its day. He hit a deer with it.
KDX 200 Kawasaki - co-worker's - - loved that bike...wished I had it over a KX125
XT550 Yamaha - - ? - - co-worker's - - beast, and real top heavy. Enduro bike.
GPZ 550 Kawasaki - - co-worker's - - could do 65mph on a city street 25 mph curve
XJ900 Yamaha - - guy's I met at a bar - - REAL stout. Had had ridden a VMax not long before/after, and it was comparable, but fit me better. (I was hitting on his GF when he came into the bar.... 😲 )
FZ750 Yamaha - - neighbor had it for sale before I bought the Harley... maybe 2004.

When I got the 2005 FXDI, I was surprised at what a "pig" the Harley was. The 88 did about 70+ HP after some mods, and at 620#. Was used to RPMS=power band=speed. Not so with a good ol' twin. Loved the sound of that bike...I had it loud...

My little Fazer at 600cc did 70HP out of the box at 400#.....could do 65mph in 2nd gear, and about 90 in 3rd....3 more to go....I did use them all....

That said, I probably never got the Harley over 80MPH...I was close with one of my daughters with me.....I'm was older and wiser then.....

I can't fathom what some of these modern "rocket" bikes can do today. My neighbor had a now-older Yamaha R1, and would do 110mph in 2nd gear.....

Yeah, I have a 93 Vulcan1500, and my most récent bike is à 2020 fatboy. Iys the 114 and I had the dealer dyno tune it. Its max at 98 hp.
I agree about the inline rev machines crotch Rockets. Fastes overall bike I ever had was à 86 Cr250 that was built. Almost killed me in 93. I trader for a v65 Magna.
Been riding since 1973 at 10 years old. Ride my Harley as much as possible. Im.a torque Junkie now....since im.old lol....
