B2620 Snow Plow Options

Getting sick of plowing with a back blade - the old neck does not like to turn as well as it did 30 years ago. Thinking of getting a plow for my B2620. Looking on U tube, I saw a nice video, but it seems if I switch to a SSQA setup, I will need to run a 3 valve to have power angle - makes sense, I just never thought it through before. So now am thinking of just buying a 72' blade and the mounting kit, and sticking with the pin on bucket. Does anyone have experience with this setup? How long does it take to remove the plow and put the loader back on? Seems that this would give me power angle with my existing hydraulics and probably be a much cheaper option. I don't really see any use for me with forks on that small of a tractor, so the flexibility of going with the quick hitch has little benefit.

Thanks!
Tim

I haven't used a plow with a tractor, but I do have one on my Polaris Ranger that I've used a few seasons. Frankly, you can get by without the power option to change the angle. What I do with the Ranger is set one direction and go back and forth on the road starting in the middle if it is wider than one pass. The plows that attach to the bucket seem like they would be ok to me.

For the tractor, I pull the rear blade behind me and drive forward which hasn't been an issue for me. If it was really deep, it could be. But, I generally will go out in the middle of the storm in those cases.

Check out YouTube if you haven't there are lot of videos with different setups there.

I bought the front plow for my bx23s. I have used it about three times so far. It is very heavy and works great. I do not have the power angle. I just start in the middle and go both directions. I have a 1/4 mile private driveway I use it for and for doing around the house. I really like it. You can use it to move dirt also. I widened my driveway with it. I also have an older Polaris quad with plow if I need my 15 year old to help.

Interested. Same thing. Got a 3rd function to angle a snow plow.

Think R14s will push at least a 5 to 6 ft plow?

I pushed about a 4 ft one with the Gravely, but it needed chains on its turfs.

I don't see how you are going to do power angle without a third valve. Adding one is not expensive. For something like that a diverter added to your loader's bucket circuit works fine.

Is there not an option that you can use without the FEL? This would free up the loader valves to be used to raise/ lower and tilt the blade. I like the blade that Tractor Time with Tim has on his green tractor. He also had a video with a SSQA blade and listed out the pros and cons between the two.

Not an expert but B2765 I think. Apparently requires a qukck hitch adapter of some sort. Price quoted in an old 2015 thread was $2500 so not "inexpensive".

I have a LX2610SU with a third function valve. I plow with a Land Pride STB1572. That is a 6 foot plow blade with hydraulics and SSQA attachment. It is probably the priciest option, but also the easiest and most convenient to use.

The LX2610 easily pushes the big 6 foot blade. I could probably do the job without the hydraulics for angling the blade, but I find it a lot easier to change the angle of the blade while pushing. Even a small change in angle helps keep the tractor going straight.

I have plowed with a big Honda ATV, and a small Kawasaki SxS, and they both did a nice job, but they do not have the torque and weight to push deep heavy snow. I would estimate that anything more than 12 inches of heavy snow is too much for the ATV or SxS.

If you have the time you can clear a driveway and parking area with the loader bucket. It take more passes, traveling to dump the bucket, and finesse with the curl lever to clear the snow and not damage the surface, but that means you don't have to buy anything you don't already have.

saw an 'interesting' plow on the net. Someone bodged some 2by10(?) in front of his bucket, actually worked very well

More winter seat time is not a bad thing and a hard justification to spend that amount with the little snow we get. I’d be better off getting a welder and cobbling something up myself

Just a thought to consider if you decide to go the route of adding a SSQA... I sold my old 2004 B7510 for nearly what it cost new. The replaced it with an LX2610 ( I really needed the bigger frame size). in the end it was close to 2 grand to add the 3rd function diverter valve and convert my loader to a SSQA. But then I would still have a loader that did not have the capacity to lift the weight that I needed it to. The LX in the end cost me $5,500 more but now I have a tractor with 900 less hours also. Given the market for used tractors if you can deal with selling yours on your own and waiting on a new one I would think the spread between what you could get for your B2620 and a new B2601 would not be that bad...
That said I have always plowed going forward in snow unless it was so deep that it would push the tractor sideways. You can also lower the bucket to about 4-6" off the ground and use that as a "pre-plow" to make it so the back blade does not have so much to move.

I had a B2620 that I traded in last year (Goodrich) I had a BX2763 blade and a B2733 Quick Attach to mount it. Worked real good and I fit it to my new B2601. Attached is a pic of the B2620

On your size tractor I would prefer a plow with a frame mount rather than a loader mount. With a frame mount the blade is much closer to the front wheels so you are less likely to get pushed sideways.
Sometimes loader mounts cause problems. FEL's aren't designed for side pressure and it isn't very hard to bend the loader arms using an angled plow.

I mounted a 6 ft. Denali snow plow on my RTV900 which weighs about as much as your B2620. I built a hydraulic lift that uses a chain to raise the blade. I think a similar design would work for you. 41562D59-440F-4590-97B0-2A6DF5996C08_1_105_c.jpeg

If your loader is QA, I wouldn't think that a frame mount would be difficult make.
