your service manual has all the information you need.

basically you need to know how the system works. Once you know that, you can figure out which components to test, and from there you'll eliminate the known good ones leading you toward the bad one(s).

"Normally" the controller is bad but I've put a bunch of relays on too, and a few temp sensors. And plenty of wiring repairs.

So it "could" be any component that has to do with the glow plug system. That's why you need a work shop manual, a volt meter, and some basic mechanical and electrical knowledge. But fear not, you CAN do it.

The likely culprit is the controller. My light stayed on and I put in one of these. Cured.

Put a voltmeter on the glow plugs. See if they stay on or only the indicator stays on. The next step is to find out what controls power to the glow plugs. There is likely some kind of controller. Try to locate a schematic.

Get the WSM (aka service manual) for your tractor.
It will explain how to track down what is causing the issue.

Unless there's a short in the wire between the light and the glow controller, the controller is bad. I bought a clone on eBay.
Don't run it with the light on or you'll have burnt out glow plugs. If you have to run it unplug the controller to turn the glow plugs off.
