Unfortunatly… it would be nice if they atleast offered a coded key set.
Yes. It does seem like there is no reason to have a key at all if they are universal. I suppose it helps keep your local kids from starting up your tractor but it is not a theft deterrent.

A locksmith might be capable of re-keying your switch…. OR…you might be able to find a replacement/aftermarket key-switch ….OR…you can place a separate key-switch in-line in your harness…..if other owners of kubota keys are that untrustworthy in your area. o_O

(An added, hidden, fuel-shut-off valve can also be installed. But keep in mind…. all anti-theft devices only discourage amateurs and only temporarily slow down professionals.)

Here’s how TractorMike discusses it: (to skip the intro-discussion go to the 9-minute point):

THIS is the BEST video of an actual on-going THEFT. GOT ‘EM!

A lot of equipment uses universal keys, it's been that way since the dawn of time.

True, but I bought 5 keys off eBay for my old Kubota mini excavator and the price delivered was about the same as 1 at the dealer. Plus I did not have to drive 40 minutes each way…

edit: Of course I now have 4 spares for the one spare that I needed…:ROFLMAO:

OMG, I see so many locksmith recommendations on this thread. The dealer could send you a key, but be precautious. If the insurance isn't expired, then the price charged by the dealer will be reasonable. See the insurance expiry date in the contract.
The second alternative would be to ask, for instance, a locksmith for a universal key. Usually, locksmiths charge less than the dealers and faster accomplish the job asked. The choice is yours.

Interesting sidenote: Keys for my Zeroturn also work on my RTV-100c. All L series should work on any other L series and are pretty cheap for multiples of them.
