I just got a price on a l2501 with 4 way bucket, 3rd valve and backhoe. Local dealer quoted 39,600. Build your own came up with 33,400.
That price excludes the 4 way bucket (around 3,000), freight, labor and Ca sales tax.
I live in Northern Ca, behind the redwood curtain so the nearest dealers are at least 3.5 hours away over less than ideal highways in winter.
Just wondering about this price for a 25 hp

It’s not that far to Oregon, and they don’t have sales tax. I’m assuming you don’t have to register a tractor in California. If not, that could be a good option for you.

Tough times to be buying almost anything new...

I got a fair quote and bought my 2501 from my small, longtime, local Dealer here in Northern NV...about $500 below Build Your Own/MSRP.

As Jim says, shop North! I am in WA and you could perhaps make a call to Dans Tractors in Battle Ground SW,WA. I can always swing by to look at a unit for you before it ships. OR is better with no sales tax, pretty sure my WA guys won’t charge you as it’s rolling out of state. You have options brother and if I can help shout out.

Thanks all. I have the local dealer a deposit on the L25. It is still in the crate. Since the bottom has dropped out of the marijuana business here, and with continuation of covid,:many small business are closing....some have been here as long as I have (73 years).
I feel that even if the price is a bit high I really should try and help the local businesses when I can.
As I said, thanks for the responses.
Roy.

I understand helping out the local economy and buying local whenever possible. If you don't support your local businesses then they will eventually go away. That is exactly what happened to the only motorcycle dealer less than two hours from my location. That said, a tractor dealer a few hours away is not really local, and if they are charging that much above MSRP then I would try to negotiate or look elsewhere. They make a good profit at MSRP.

If you’re willing to shop North, give Mid-Valley Tractor a call in Eugene, OR.

I haven’t bought any equipment from them but, they were professional, upfront and quoted really competitive prices on new tractors and equipment when I last visited.

Here is the location clue:....... "behind the redwood curtain"
What you think Redwoods are only in the states?

Thanks again for all the advice!
Since I have to take care of my invalid wife, I only get 3 hours a day, 4 days a week off. The local dealer is 5 minutes from my house which makes it handy for service/parts. As I said, getting out of here to anywhere is difficult over less than ideal winter roads. From here to Eugene would be a 6 hour drive one way, to Redding is 4 hours and Santa Rosa about 4 hours.
I certainly appreciate the input and all the offers of help......thank you!

The vast majority of redwood trees are located in California and Oregon.
There are apparently some small, not widely known, redwood tree populations in CA, UK, SA, and PT.

Price seems high, however it’s possible after increases and inflation. I paid 37k for l3301 with backhoe, including 3rd function, 2 remotes, pallet forks, tooth bar, loader with 66 bucket.

Been awhile since I was here, I have what your looking for just outside of Portland Ore, 42 hours on the clock right now and I WILL have it for sale when the dealer gets in the FEL for my new 3560 machine.
The backhoe for that one can take awhile, I do need the FEL. I have had this machine now for 11 months. L2501, BH-77 and 4 way bucket.

I also live in northern California and I purchased a new b2601, loader with quick attach and R14 tires and a backhoe for about $25,000 not including tax in Sept of 2020. That was below build your own pricing on the internet at the time. I know a L2501 is more expensive but unless pricing has risen that much it seems pretty high. The Kubota dealer I bought it from also sells "new" 2501's that are used on farms for a summer with full warranty.
