M5700 4-wheel drive Hyd shuttle w/cab
When I Engauge the 4-wheel drive There is no slippage in the drivetrain when I shift to neutral ,the tractor feels like I am pressing on the brakes !! stops pretty quick, will not drift at all ???
It's fine in2-WD
No unusual noises in the drive train
My local dealer has no thoughts on what the problem could be !
Just did a service on the front axle and still the same !!
Please help !!
Thanks

Might just have a soft tire - maybe one of the rears. In 4wd, the normal front-pull is around 5%. But if inflation pressure is off normal the "scuff" increases pretty quick - feeling like the brakes are on. Taking it out of 4wd makes everybody happy again, the differential soaking up the difference.

Agree with rbargeron.
Alternatively, did someone change tyre sizes on the tractor immediately before this problem occurred?

If the rear tires are worn way more than the front or Vice Versa then that could be your issue also.
In 2WD lift one front tire off the ground at a time and turn them if one or both have excessive resistance you most likely have a bearing issue.

When I serviced the frontend yesterday I rolled both tires ,seemed to roll fine no resistance or any strange noise !
But that was with both fronts off the ground same time .
would 1 wheel at a time as you suggested be different ?

Thank you
Chuck

Yes one at a time.
Otherwise you not spinning the output of the pinion.

Just checked each side , one at a time as your recommend
They both roll free and no unusual noise or play on either side!!
Thank you
Chuck
Then you are really down to tire sizes / wear and alignment.
If it has excessive tow in or tow out it will cause issues.
But most of the time it points towards tire size/ wear mismatch than anything.
