I need to remove the propeller shaft to track down a hydraulic leak. Is front axle removal required? I did a search; no "results found"

Shaft is on splines with a sliding cover. Take a look at parts schematics
Thank you for your quick response. I have looked at a couple of parts schematics and am fairly familiar with what they show as to components. It is not clear as to how the cover removes to access the couplings and shaft. I have heard there had been a change in the removal process from earlier to later models, the later requiring front axle removal. I guess I'll need to find out what "later model" actually means.
As of yet I don't have a service manual and am guessing that it will answer a lot of questions. At any rate I will post any specific findings relative to the process.
Thanks again

Look at parts for front propeller shaft. Cover held by two screws
