hey guys, new guy to the kubota scene here. i come from a back ground of vintage cubs. i own a 63 100, 72 108, 79 1450, 77 1200, 74 128. i am picking up my very first kubota this weekend. it's a HST t1600h. i've been searching the net for answers to this question: how/when do i need to change the hydro fluid and/or transmission fluid? i've seen where people say not to change the fluid, just add to it because it takes up to a day and a half to prime the pump. i'm a firm believer in frequent "fluid" changes/checks. would you be so kind to give me your opinions on this matter. thanks, jeff ps, pictures will be added this weekend, i know everyone LOVES pictures!!

If not now then when?
If you didn't get a service record with the hours showing when things were changed out then you are operating blind. Does it have 20 hours to go till the next change or 100 hours? It may cost a few dollars but then you have a record and know when it is due again.
The fluids are quite literally the life-blood of these machines.
If you read numerous posts on the board and see when someone asks about a 3 point hitch problem or a loader lifting problem the usual first reply is "has the fluid been changed and the filters and screens been changed/cleaned?"

Absent service records, I would change all fluids now and then go by the manual as to intervals.

I agree birddogger, with 404 hours on the clock I'm sure it needs it. What's all three talk about priming the pump? Is that hard to do? As soon as it's in my possession I will be buying a service manual, I'll have to order it but I will be able to get all the filters and fluids from my local dealer. Thanks everyone for all the help!!!!! Jeff
