I have heard concerns about chains on the front of a tractor stressing the front drive train...do post pictures of your tractor when you get the chains on.

I have no plans to use the chains as traction aids to pull down buildings.
They are only for traction on ice and hard pack snow so seems like less drive train strain than running the fel moving dirt.
I have used chains on the front wheels for snowblowing with my B2650 for 4 years. The point is that one often has enough traction to move forward but lose steering. I can't speak to wear of front axle components but it is more important to me to be able to steer when one side of my driveway has a dropoff. Chains and 4wd help but are not a complete cure. They do allow you to back up and correct course better, however.

I know it was not a tractor, but I remember the manual for my old CJ5 jeep stating that if chains are used, it was recommended to put them on the FRONT wheels.
I guess it came down to steering, and safety issues (as sheepfarmer mentions), as well as maybe getting a better bite and letting the rear wheels follow on packed down snow, since the tires were all the same size.

I would say, still cannot believe how my little LX3310 throws snow out of
the LX2980 blower.
Looks like we could be in for yet another dry year. We have only had two snow events so far this winter worthy of firing up the snow blower. March is usually the big snow month in these parts but the long range forecast looks pretty dry.
I am itching to take the blower off and put the loader on. That would create a 100% chance of a monster spring storm. We have had some doozies in April here in northern lower MI.
Funny how things can be so different not even that far away! Just a few hundred miles north of ya in NW Ontario we’ve got what seems like a record amount of snow this winter! (Likely just ‘normal’ or an ‘old fashioned winter). Just starting to melt and settle down but we have spots on level non windy areas where it’s still waist deep
I took the blower off and put the FEL on for some other work. It will remain handy in case.
We had 14 inches come down on us the last week of April one year. It came straight down as there was zero wind. Two days later it was gone.
