How do I use my suitcase weights?

Along with the new-to me BX2230, came 3 (three) 55lb Kubota Suitcase Weights. I know that they would attach to the grill guard/bracket, but I had to remove that in order to connect the hitch for my 60" hydraulic front blade. I do not know if I even need the weight up front to effectively plow snow. The previous owner clearly wasn't able to use them to plow her driveway either. I guess we will know more when the white stuff flies.

So on the wind up... I would ask what tasks might I do in the future that would necessitate the use of the forward weights? Seems to me like they would have been ideal to use during snow removal.

Yup I have the B8160 rear weight box locked and loaded!
As long as it would not exceed the 3 point hitch lift capacity I would design a method to attach them to the weight box. Extra weight when plowing is very helpful.

there is a HUGE difference between a snow blade and a dirt blade,in both design and operation.
you do NOT need weights up front to plow snow.period.
what IS required ,is to have the blade properly adjusted.
you'll need to find some flat ,level ground then adjust shoes for the correct blade height, then adjust 'tilt' so top of blade is 3-4" in front of the cutting edge( like the letter 'C' tilted to the right).
maybe this is old skool, but it's how I setup the plows on all my CJ-5s decades ago, moved mountains of snow every season. Place control in 'float' and you'll clean up real easy.

The only time you would need weight in the front is when you have a rear accessory on the tractor such as a rototiller. I can't see any reason that the previous owner had a front weight bracket except that at one time they used it in conjunction with a rototiller. I have never seen that style of attachment on a BX before. Looks like it might be for possibly a B-sized tractor.

The weights go on the back to ensure rear wheel traction when that heavy hydraulic plow is raised.

I will just put them in the corner of the building like she had them. If I ever get to using a rear attachment I'll use them as they were intended. The grill guard is part of the bracket, and can be used with the loader in place. I am looking forward to pushing snow with her, would be nice to have the guard in place but I will re-hang it come Spring. Thanks.
