The purpose of that lever is to return the 3 point position back to the neutral position.

Let say you take the handle and throw it in the direction that makes the 3 point raise - and let go. The 3 point will raise and will continue to raise to the point where it cannot raise any higher! AND then it will kick in the bypass valve and that ugly squealing noise will happen! This rod and spring forces the handle to drop back into the neutral position ONCE the 3 point hits the top of the travel - the same is true with the opposite movement.

this is NOT your machine but the info describes the rational for the usage:

Hello to you all, tell me what is the purpose of the Rod with Spring and adjustments to the right of centre in the photo of my B7500 .
I’ve misplace my service manual over the years, so I’m in the dark with this one, I would like to be enlightened please. ?
Its the position control feedback rod. It senses the height of the lift arms and automagically operates the spool in the 3pt valve to maintain the height you have set with the position control lever. It also unloads the pump when the lift arms reach the top of their travel.

A B7500 does not have "Position Control". As 85Hokie said it returns the lever to the center position when the three point arms reach the top of their travel.

According to my Operator's Manual, the B7500DTN has Position Control, the B7400 HSD, B7500 HSD & B7500 DT do not have Position Control. The adjustment and operation of the Implement Lowering Limit is explained on P 41, attached below. I use this limit to set operating height for my flail mower. Best wishes.

Thanks Guys, If I have had been using the 3 point hitch I certainly would have had to be aware of this adjustment.

Now I’ll see if I’ve got this right…The hydraulic pressure is relieved at both extremes by this rod, and to adjust the drop point to your implement requirements, you adjust up accordingly.

I am surprised to learn that some of these models did not have position control. I assumed that was a standard feature on all "modern" Kubota compacts dating back at least to the B7200. Where there other models that did not have position control?

The B7100's do not have it, hell the NEW BX's don't have it - but the 8n's did!!!! I hate the 1/4" valve 3 point - hard as hell to get anything accomplished via ground scraping work i.e. scraper blade or box blade.

I think the B7800 also does not have position control. But hay I was kind of wrong on the last comment so maybe i should keep my mouth shut.

I did a little research and it appears multiple models did not have position control The quarter inching valve was used for a while and does not seem to have been a rousing success. As far as I can tell position control is standard on all current offerings.

I guess I assumed too much based on my 80's vintage B7200 and experience with other tractors. Frankly I thought position control was standard on everything today but I am probably assuming too much again.
