Back blades & snow - - - lessons learned ?

Greetings all ! Proud owner of an LX2610 this past Spring to help around the new house in the woods. Living in central western Michigan, and got our first real taste of snow this weekend. Most of my 1300 driveway is gravel and "earth". I'm waiting for the ground to freeze to reduce pulling up any dirt, but I did plow today's 6" of snow this evening.

My blade is a 6' LandPride. I bought the shoes to keep the cutting edge off the ground. I am also considering adding a piece of 1-1/2" pipe to the cutting edge to reduce the digging effect into the dirt. I know pick-up snow plow drivers do this to prevent peeling up lawns. Anyone else do this trick with any success?

Anyone put some form of slippery coating on the blade surface to shed the snow?

Any other neat thing you do to make your back blade perform well in the snow ?

Does the plastic cutting edge require special hardware to install, and where did you purchase the cutting edge from. I know that Kubota offers them, but wasn't sure if you might have found a less expensive supplier.

Plow pipes are the norm here for the plow guys.
I turn my 6 foot blade backwards when the gravel is unfrozen like now.
Usually takes a few snows until I can use the front blower.
Every snow season is different!

If the snow is deep, I take one pass with the blade held 2” above the gravel, then turn the blade around and float it on the gravel. If the snow isn’t deep, I just turn the blade around and float it. I haven’t found a need to change or add anything to the cutting edge.

It's not installed yet, but after reading some similar threads I've picked up a 5x7x3/4" "horse stall mat", which I intend to cut a couple 12" strips off (1x7x3/4") and I'm going to sandwich it between my rear blade and the cutting edge so it hangs down 4" or so, and fold back under the blade, acting as a big squeegee so my gravel stays put and I get a nice smooth finish.

Yes reverse cutting edge float is the key early in the snow season.
