Question on loading rear tires of a b2710 for example have any negative effects such as strain on transmission being hydrostatic? Looking to load my rear tires on my 2710. They are 13.6x16 turfs. Looking to load cause I do allot of loader work loading and scraping manure, round bales(I know some of you would cringe seeing this but I make due with what I have for now) moving pallets etc and plowing with it. I also do have rear tire chains that get put on in winter

ONly if you insist on rapid back-and-forth operations which require the HST to overcome tractor momentum.

My B2910 tires, front foam filled, and rear liquid filled, have been that way for 19 years now with no ill affects. R4 tires. Do not think turfs would be any different, although better in as much as they are larger and will hold more liquid, which means they will be heavier.

The liquid within the tire should have minimal affect on the transmission, since the only connection to the tire is the friction between the tire and the liquid. So the tire will start to spin before the liquid does, so the liquid does not have the same affect on the transmission as solid wheel weights would.

Beware of misinformation that is out there. And remember that sometimes Kubota includes recommendations that are unreasonable in their manuals. For example, someone reported that their operator's manual said to remove liquid ballast from the rear tires before installing a backhoe. Nobody in their right mind would do this every time they put their backhoe on...

My guess is that liquid in the rear tires would affect the transmission the same way an implement hanging on the back of the tractor would. And tractors are designed to have heavy implements on the back, and to actually use them in contact with the ground, which adds more stress to the drive train, stress it is designed to deal with.

Just my 2 cents... :)

Thanks henro i was thinking this but wasn't sure if there was a sloshing effect this is to be honest the 1 st hydrostatic tractor and the first tractor this small I've ever owned. The price was right it was better than the one I had at the point now trying to get by with what I have till spring I'm looking to buy a brand new cab tractor 50 60 hp. But will keep this just to do small stuff and clean barns etc. Anyway I've had loaded tires before but always had manual transmission tractors and I was told these hydrostatic trannyss arrreee finicky so I figured I'd ask. Looks like I'll be filling them asap. Thanks everyone

Just a further though that may add to your comfort. My B2910 is the same tractor as your B2710, but with a couple more HP. So mine is stressed a bit more when working hard, and after nearly 20 years no ill affects...so you have a bit more cushion than I do...with less HP to stress the components.

What @Henro said, beware of ignorance and misinformation. My local dealer adds liquid ballast to EVERY tractor they sell. Do you think Kubota would stand for that if liquid ballast were a problem and it caused premature transmission failuire that Kubota and the dealer would have to pay for? Kubota even recommends liquid ballast in their owner's manuals.

These tractors are built to work and as long as you don't use a corrosive liquid in the tires, ballast is a good thing.

Here are a couple of pages from my owner's manual.
