Well hell .......... I might be SOL too then - I will find out this weekend on the 1850 .....
SO..........

after forgetting the filter a couple of times - I brought the $%@#$@# tractor to the filter (brought it home for the winter)

Got the "coffee" fiilter and placed it in the fuel fill - it did stop (see picture) BUT with a little push of my pinky it slide right down - for a PERFECT fit! I was shocked based on the past posts.

I bought the "cheaper" version of the filter...... this ONE

Not sure if there is a huge difference between the two coffee filters - but for 10 bucks this works perfectly in the BX1850.

I like mine better because it cost $3.00 more than yours did. If it cost more, it must be better.

I got my filter today and installed it in my BX1860. That said, it did not just drop right in. There is an approximately 1/16th inch ridge about 1 inch below the top of the filler neck. I had to wiggle the filter to get it past that ridge before it would go in the tank. Once installed it looks like it was made for my tractor. Attached is a picture of it installed.

I got this one.

85Hokie got this one.

I suspect that they are the same but I paid $3.00 more for mine than he did. His is measured in MM and mine is measured in inches. I suspect that is the only difference between them. I just think that 85Hokie fount cheaper than anyone else did.

Looks like the one 85Hokie bought is a bit over 8 inches long, where the one armylifer bough is 5.8 inches long...diameter is the same apparently.

I ordered and received this filter for my BX24. It is a perfect fit, like others have said, like it was made for it. I tried one of the filter in the funnel things, which worked like crap. The flow was so slow I gave up trying to fill my tank. That and it was so flimsy that I couldn't depress the slide valve on my diesel can. My tank is already full so I was not able to try and filling it with this strainer, but I see no reason why it won't work perfectly. Thank for the tip.

I purchased the one from Amazon that was recommended above, and it is too long to fit into the filler neck of my BX23S. Has anyone found one that is short enough to fit the filler neck of the BX23S? I would have assumed that all BX tractor tanks were the same, but apparently, that isn't the fact.

This is the one that I ordered and installed in my BX1860 and the same one for my neighbor's BX2350. I would think that the BX23S has the same fuel tank as the BX2350 but I cannot be sure that is a fact. Anyway, this is the one that works for both of two tractors.

That is the same model that I purchased. When I try to put it into the tank, it gets stopped by a ridge and will not go down far enough to put the cap back on. I didn't measure exactly how far down the ridge is located, but my guess is about 3" below the top edge of the filler neck.

That is the same as I experienced when putting it in both my tractor and my neighbor's. Just wiggle it and coax it, it should just drop in if you hold your tongue just right.

My dog taught me how to hang my tongue to the side, but he never taught me how to wag my tail when hanging my tongue to the side.
I will give it a try tomorrow. Once it is in, can you get it out for cleaning or do I have to use my tongue for that also?

I have not had to clean mine yet.

BTW, that lip you spoke of is very narrow. It is about 1/8th inch or less but it does stop the strainer from just dropping in without a little manipulation. There is at least one other person in this thread that experienced the same thing that you and I have. However, I installed two of them and once they get past that little lip, they go in all the way without restriction. Let us know how you make out.

This has been a mainstay for years. Not only does it filter junk; it filters out water.
I have one of those Mr. Funnel fuel filters. They are great for transferring a few gallons of fuel between cans but they get messy when trying to re-fuel directly to the tractor. They ALWAYS have an ounce or two of fuel that stays in the filter and has to be dumped out into some container, if you don't want to waste it.

Is the residual liquid good fuel or fuel mixed with water?

It is good fuel. I have never seen water in any of my fuel. I always save it in a different container and then pour it back through the filter the next time I use it. I do not waste any of it. That is probably not typical of what other people experience though. I learned how to keep contamination out of fuel tanks more than 50 years ago on the farm and I took those lessons with me.

I have one of these that I use, seems to work pretty good, mine was on clearance.. $5 couldn't pass on it! I just dump out the few drops of fuel that doesn't make it into the tank. Going to get one of those cool tea filters though!

I usually fill up in my garage but with my 0 turn I usually fill up out in the field and can see how easily a leaf or something could get in there quickly.

Cat,

they fit primarily the B series - not the BX series, that filter would work perfectly on the B7100's. But would fall into the hole of the BX's.
Big tractor.. Big fuel intake!😁
