The air cleaner bracket on my BX2230 has snapped off just above where the throttle cable is. I have the cleaner off, the cable loose at the pin and one nut removed from the lower front side of the bracket. Do I need to remove the engine compartment cover to get to other bolts that are holding the bracket. I can’t see anything from above.

I had no idea this broken bracket was so common until I started reading some of the posts. I guess I will try to get it welded and put it back on. I should have removed the underhood cover immediately. I about killed myself just getting the cotter pin out of the throttle assembly. Ha This is the biggest project I have undertaken. I am not terribly mechanical.
I would just add, that after several attempts to fix the bracket on my BX2200, I finally just bent the ends and used some rubber cut from a bicycle inner tube to pull the ends together.
No more broken brackets and all seems well after a few years. The rubber strips I used are getting old though, perhaps I should change them?
The bracket on my 2230 broke also soon after I bought it. It had been welded before, though very poorly. I removed it, ground out the old weld, V-eed out the area and MIG welded it back together. So far, after almost 200 hours it is still holding.
One thing that I believe will greatly reduce stress on the bracket is to not let the engine run at a speed where it shakes considerably, like below 1500 rpm. Those little three cylinder engines are great, but at low speeds do shake a lot, and the poor design of the air filter bracket can't endure it for long before it cracks and fails. A poor design by Kubota, but can be accommodated by watching the engine speed.
