NOT always abuse, the bent rod could have been caused by a hidden metallurgical failure. I remmeber design/build a test machine to separate the 'good from bad' car shock absorber shafts. That was the easy part. The hard part was listening to the operator toss 100,000 rods into bins. tink,tink,rink,tink.......
AFter that I understodd how 'water torture' works...

Please elaborate and explain what you mean? I am more than willing to put forth my money and effort to maintain my equipment. I paid cash for my equipment brand new. I have maintained it myself with only a couple trips so far to the workshop for upgrades etc. So please elaborate what you mean by I am unwilling to spend money to properly maintain it?

Because I believe I stated its bent. Meaning its not repairable, a shop would refuse to repair. At least from all the Utube vids I watched on it.

Since you are an expert on hydraulic cylinders and repair after watching a few u-lube videos why are you even posting on a user group? You already know all the answers and know better than guys who build these things for a living.

The LA525 cylinders are metric. If using an imperial cylinder as a replacement you need to replace both. That should not be a problem and still probably cheaper than one OEM.

So I called here is the low down from the Official Kubota Tractor Dealer Near Me.

Brand new Hydro 750
NO they will not repair the rod only replace it
Rod Replacement plus seals and labor roughly 600

VS

Two Brand New Generic Hydro's for 300 Plus some shipping give or take
Starting to feel like a no brainer minus possible fittings

The LA525 cylinders are metric. If using an imperial cylinder as a replacement you need to replace both. That should not be a problem and still probably cheaper than one OEM.

Looks like the rod on those is only an inch where the number you posted on the oem was 1.18, wouldn't they be weaker?

Your correct however the one you listed earlier would provide a 2 inch bore when I have a 1.75 and and the throw min max on the bucket movement perhaps too much. I would have to go take some measurements to see if it would be acceptable.

I was also looking in the loader category only, this looks like its still applies but I think the stats might be too much. I was looking already at other site brands in stock.

A slight stat difference on certain categories likely makes little difference, on other certain areas its critical to be the exact same. So a slightly smaller rod would be measurably weaker by how much I couldn't tell you. The materials the rod is made from likely matters more.

If they had it in stock I would have bought it and let you know my thoughts. If I end up swapping them out in 5 years so be it.

A Kubota dealer is not a professional hydraulic cylinder shop. A good hydraulic cylinder shop can make any part needed to rebuild a hydraulic cylinder. They make, rods, barrels and have sources for any seals needed. Repairing a cylinder keeps your machine original.

everything IS repairable, the problem with this cylinder is that unless the pro shop, 'mikes' the internal bore of the cylinder,they won't find the possible deformation in it caused when the rod bent. Depending on how they measure the cylinder it could easily cost more to properly repair than a new cylinder costs.
Been down that road 8 -10 years ago. Loader cylinder rebuild quote was x2.5 cost of a new cylinder. I had 2 new cylinders custom built in Winnipeg,shipped here to Ontario and all new hoses as well.

While you might be able to change the loader arm cylinders for some with a slightly different stroke and or mounting length. I think the bucket ones could have an early failure if you changed them as isn't there welded stops on the arms where the bucket pivots. If a shorter mounting length of stroke was used it, wouldn't the cylinder would be subject to all the rotation force when the bucket is rotated down and used to level or push etc? I realize it is not a good thing to do and isn't that how cylinder shafts get often bent in the first place which would be abuse not wear and tear?

Check the rollback and dump angle on your bucket. Bucket cylinders operate in that in between position most of their life. Match the rod diameter and bending force will be a non-issue.

Changes in retracted length and stroke will alter rollback and dump angles. If you are within an inch or two in the aggregate the differences in those angles will be so minor you won't notice.

Unlike a big piece of earth moving equipment the cylinders on these little loaders are commodity items wirh standard mounts. They are available from many suppliers. There is no value in spending large sums to repair them when new cylinders with equivalent dimensions can be purchased for much less.

FYI the ones I wanted are back in stock before I ordered I called them to discuss and make sure I wasn't overlooking something. Order is placed $320in total for 2 new hydro's. I don't think I can beat it.

Like the 1 inch rod being to weak. Actually the 1 inch rod is more then capable of lifting the specs requested per the requirements I could find online. The LA525 bucket can lift 1131 LBS and this cylinder is rated way beyond that. So they may actually end up being stronger not weaker.

Lastly as far as fitting go the new Hydro uses "SAE 6". I could not locate which type this front loader has but if its not right I can get fittings etc to match.

Have you considered the fact the 1.75" bore will reduce your lift capacity by 21%?

Edit: Oops - never mind - I measured and see they are 45mm not 50mm like I was thinking.

Went to a local hydro shop and was able to pickup the replacement fittings I needed for 30 dollars.

So 2 new hydros 320
Fitting for new hydros to line up to existing system 30 bucks

Total tab 350

1 new OEM Hydro 750

Job is done and everything is working great. Will provide an update in a couple weeks of use.
