Mx5200 hst 4x4 600hr transmission filter change

Is this amount of metal shavings on the magnet ok?
I have changed the filter at 50, 200, 400 and now 600 hours and have never seen metal shavings like this.
Is it time to trade it in?
It will be paid off in May 22.

Dayum that looks excessive at that many hours and filter changes. Not sure what I would do in that situation.

That one shaving does not look right ........... the long one - A drill bit made that!

That is what we usually see that at the first or second suction filter change. That is normal machining debris, nothing to worry about.

Wouldn't worry about it if it's not giving you any problems.

there is another option. Or two actually.

#2, completely disassemble the entire transmission and hydrualic system and find out where it came from.

#3 trade it.

Option number 1 was listed before 2 and 3.

Re-reading the first post provides absolutely no additional information about what is "normal" after a 600 hour filter change, with 3 previous filter changes!

The debris on the magnet is from the manufacturing, machining, and break-in of the trans-axle assembly. It has just now been sucked up to the filter. It has just now gotten to the suction tube and been sucked up to the filter as it's been in there the whole time. Most of the time, it happens in the first couple hundred hours, some later. It is nothing to be concerned about. In 200 hours when he replaces his filter again, there will be very little debris.
I service over 100 L, M, and MX series tractors a year, this is not uncommon.

people get real upset about this subject and I've even heard of people trading to another brand because of these pictures.

I've seen this many many times over the years and it hurts nothing. Now if you find any brass or copper in the filter, then we might need to look deeper. This is simiply manufacturing debris that the factory couldn't get out of the transmission case. At 600 hours, it's more than I would expect, but I don't think it's a problem. I had to split an M108 that had about 2800 hours on it, and it still had some of this stuff laying in the bottom. It just sits there and won't hurt anything. If it was going to damage something it'd have already done it and the operator(s) would know long before then.

If y'all have seen some of the stuff that comes out of the factories, that dealers fix before customer delivery, you'd probably soil your britches. Then there's some that say a dealer don't do anything. I get a good laugh out of those.

Old post, I know. I worked in a machine shop finishing castings that were part of the hydraulic system of injection mold machines. We rotated between jobs, drilling, milling, boring and final inspection. If a part that I inspected and stamped my number on was found with trash in it, I would be fired on the spot. I worked in a job shop, nothing along the lines of a mega-million dollar plant that makes Kubota parts. There is no excuse for this trash in an assembled unit.
