I once bought a pail of oil from the local bulk duel depot (Petro Canada). That oil was listed as meeting the UDT spec I believe. (This was before I had a tractor)
At any rate, this oil was more expensive than a pail of our canadian ‘premium UDT’. So the price for oem is not outrageous.
a search should find you a banned members posts on what he used, it was a a valvoline product, dyed orange even I believe. It met UDT I think but he ran geared transmissions.

I don't know,I always questioned guys being cheap skates on quality while they are throwing away money on cigarettes and booze.
They're not really being cheap, they just think they're saving money. As soon as they have a problem with their hydraulic system they'll quickly realize their "rainy day fund" just got broken in to, and what they thought was a savings has vanished!
Can someone tell me the difference between the Kubota kx41-3v and kx41-3
when I go online I seem to see both, ether someone is lazy and doesn’t type the ( v ) or these are two different machines

I agree totally on the cigarettes. But I happen to like beer. Never drank alcohol until I got married. NO, not for that reason. LOL. I used to drink sweet soft drinks, and the wife felt it would be better to avoid soft drinks, and suggested beer would be a better alternative. I was 25 at the time. So I developed a taste for beer, but only drink at home or with friends or family, and NEVER over do it.
So I would agree with the wasting money on booze comment too. But having a few beers at home, especially the cheaper ones, does not cost much. Heck, a can of beer is cheaper than one bottle of the nutritional supplement that my wife drinks several of daily...
But back on topic, for me there is no substitute for SUDT, regardless of what the price might be. Too risky in my opinion.

You started this thread asking about SUDT2 oil, now you bring up an excavator. Please tell me you did not put a UDT oil in the KX41. All Kubota Construction equipment requires ISO46HD hydraulic oil.

No way I would use anything but mfg recommended oil in these HST machines. I have 3 x 5 gallon buckets of it just sitting in my shop I love it so much lol.

5 gal. of Kubota SUDT-2 was less than $100 incl. tax, during the Kubota/dealer SUDT-2 promotion in Feb/Mar.

What does Kubota know, all they did was engineer and build the tractor. Put any old oil in there.
I'm not cheap and enjoy life. I do buy snobby beer, good booze, good wine, and SUDT2 as well as Kubota filters.....and I still have money left for other things! Why let the kids spend it all when you're gone.

My wife feels the same way about jewelry. Fluids and filters of any brand are pretty much noise by comparison.
Not that I believe it is the only acceptable choice but as long as my new machine is uder warranty it will get SUDT2 and filters. After that maybe not.
It just got its first engine oil change and it did not say Kubota on the container and probably never will.

Inflation? Fuel costs? Oil costs? Housing, insurance?
I dunno. Try asking why some is so cheap when they have to buy a lot of a product with no alternative or competition. You have to pay their price.
I use Super UDT2 in everything and I have several Kubota tractors.
But sometimes, I would like to know if an alternative exists, just because..
Its like a “challenge” to find an alternative.
Keep in mid you can use Kubota gear oil in your front axles if you wish. It’s a little thick in cold operating conditions, but it’s also less prone to leak out of seals in hot operating conditions compared to the more runny UDT2. Ask me how I know.

I like this question. I will call myself CHEAP, because I buy udt with coupons and during the sale. My buddy is cheap because he likes to buy generic fluid. Mine still runs and his needs a transmission...
Three types of mindset in this world: poverty(quantity not quality), middle class(wants quality/name brand), and rich(waste money just to have something you cant).
Blame the parents who tell their kids socialism is the way.

For me there is no SUDT alternative. PERIOD. End of story.
