What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

I used my B2650 to go and pick up a 6" Befco PTO chipper. It was such a good deal, I couldn't resist. I called him 10 minutes after he posted and was able to pick it up within 2 hours. I asked him why he was selling so low? He said he just went through a divorce and lost the tractor he also had to sell the attachments and split it with her. He said he would give it to me for a dollar if he legally could.

It is a beast of a unit for the 2650. She spins up fine and had no issue spitting out some 2x4's that I had handy but I do not think it would handle 6". I will probably just flip it. I even told him this and he smiled and said I hope you do.

It would go well on your machine too. With the flights being so cheap right now, it is a shame it wouldn't pass as luggage - lol.

Used my Lightweight stump bucket to transplant some Saltbush out of bad spots to an easier mowed alignment. As dry as it is here I was glad to get a day where the soil moisture kept the rootball intact, and still be able to dig them out.

But it only defaults to URL.... when I delete it doesnt allow or prompt to Browse... maybe its my Firefox browser? when I select the Image Icon, only the URL choice is there with OK or Cancel.... not choice to Browse my computer pics...??? I can post pics on my motorcycle forum site....hmmm

Did the 50 hour service on my L2501 today, cost me $300 on 6 gallons SUDT-2, 6 qts 10w-30 Kubota mineral oil, and all three filters. Plus a roll of paper towels to clean up the oil spill..... in draining the hydraulics I didn't have an oil container that held 6 gallons so used two, switching mid-stream and you can imagine how that went!

I know Kubota no longer calls for changing the hydraulic at 50 hours and what came out looked about the same as what I put back in so probably money wasted. Tomorrow I'll check the air filters, grease everything, and check the lug nuts, I believe that's it?

At a hardware store like Home Depot they sell plastic tubs that are about 2’x3’ and 1’ deep. They are usually in the masonry section since they are used to mix mortar/concrete.

They are big enough to set under the tractor with two 5 gallon buckets inside the tub. It makes it easier to slide them around and clean up any spills.

Thanks Russell I'll pick one up. The sad thing is I have a pile of cardboard boxes that I could have broken down and placed under the tractor to absorb any spill. Dumb, dumb, dumb....

Oliver, if you have any farmers nearby see if they have any empty protein tubs. Once they're licked clean by the cattle they become "trash". You can take a circular saw and cut it to any height you desire. No cost, and you don't have to go to town!

I used one a couple of weeks ago when I changed the oils in my L4240. After and the drips quit I pulled it out from under the tractor and covered it with a good heavy piece of cardboard. When I was finished with the tractor I used a 3# Folgers plastic container as a dipper and put that oil into the now empty containers. I'll use that oil someplace else. I just marked it was it was from and the date.

The thing is when changing oil in my motorcycles, cars, mower, whatever, I always place a piece of cardboard underneath to absorb any spill, I can usually use the same piece over and over. Once it becomes saturated I cut it into strips to use for fire starters at my fire pit. I have no idea why I didn't have cardboard under the tractor this time? Must have been in a hurry.

Next time stick your plug back in or even your finger to switch buckets!

The first time I drained the hydro oil from the M, I figured the 20 gallon galvanized washtub would have enough space to handle the volume.
Well it did, barely, filled to within an inch of the rim.
No tidy way to move it without sloshing all over, so then I had to dip out enough so I could get it out

Next time I will be better prepared for sure!
All in all these tractors are easy to work on and I want to thank whoever at the factory tightened the oil filters because they came off with little effort, drain plugs as well. One thing I don’t care for is the little sight glass for checking the hydraulic level because it appears the same full as empty because air and clear fluid both appear the same. I put exactly what what is called for, 6.2 gallons.
Anyway greased everything, air filters are clean, lug nuts were tight which I expected since I used Locktite on them when I added the spacers. Now all I need is to find something to do with it.
