My PTO belts on my G6200 are wearing out quickly, like, in 30 minutes of mowing (yes the picture of the abused belt is after only 20 minutes of run time). I can't quite figure out what's wrong with the PTO system. Attached are several pictures, and some video links below. I am using generic Kevlar belts from vbeltguys. The first time I replaced the belts with these generics, a pair of belts lasted about 30 hours. I was using a regular mower to clear waist-high grass, so using it like a brush hog, and I was prepared to accept that if I want to use the mower like a brush hog, I'm ok with sharpening the blades often and replacing belts often. But then the belts wouldn't even last an hour on my lawn, so clearly something is wrong, and since the generic belts used to last a lot longer, I am sure there is a problem besides the belts. I don't want to spend $100 on a pair of new OEM belts until I can get generic belts to last at least 30 hours.
Some ideas I'm wondering about
- Tension pully too tight (bearing issue? (first video link below))
- Tension pulley is slightly out of line with the bottom pulley (see 2nd video link and picture)
- As shown in the second video, the belts slip forward when running, so it seems the front belt is wearing on the ridge on the tension pulley)
- The pulley on the front PTO shaft has a little play in it (first video link below). Is the fit between the pulley and the shaft too worn?
(video of tension pulley (might be a bit stiff? and fit of PTO pulley on front PTO shaft)
(video of tractor running: belts like to slip forward, tension arm might be a little bit out of line?)
