L3130GST Clutch not controlling Pto.

I bought it 2nd hand with 1200hrs. Shortly after I got it I noticed the clutch would not disengage the pto. I could only operate the pto (engage & disengage) with the pto lever as the clutch would not make the mechanical disconnect.
The question is, is it a dual clutch issue or a transmission issue.
Any help is appreciated!

Those models are all single clutch.

Get a copy of the Workshop Manual (WSM) and go to the clutch/PTO section. Also the transmission/PTO section. Besides the cable that connects the PTO lever to a mechanical arm, there is a wire for the PTO shown in the clutch section. Your model has an Engine Control Unit (ECU). Those are the things that I would check first.

This series tractor with the GST has the PTO shaft splined into the flywheel and the transmission input splined into the single disc clutch plate. There is no way you are going to stop the PTO using your clutch pedal.

Everything I've read has stated nothing about the clutch which would make that make since. So with this tractor the pto operation is based solely on the pto mechanical handle by the seat. And like it would be kinda rough on the machine.

@whitetiger. So what is safe operation for pto engagement with shredder or 3 point auger and such. Seemed quite dangerous using just the pto lever with the auger.
The BX series has never had a clutch pedal, the late B series, the LX series, the L4701 and all newer Grand Ls, etc do not have a clutch pedal and every one of them has a lever or knob to engage the PTO.
It's kind of like driving a manual transmission pickup truck all of your life and suddenly you find yourself in one that has an automatic transmission.

While I've got you when shifting from forward to reverse or vise versa. The higher the gear the worse but even down in 2-3-4 there is a chatter or mesh grind noise in the transmission. Yes it's at a stop and there is a pause between the shifts. Throttle at idle or a little above. It's that normal or acceptable or is it indicative of an issue.

Well, it's not good. Pull off your hydraulic filter and cut it open. Seeing what is inside of it can tell a lot.
