Has anyone out there cut a few inches off the joystick to get it out of the way? I'm used to getting on and off both sides of our tractors during chores and don't consider that it would be a hardship to reach another 3 or 4 in. Thoughts?

I remember a thread about this exact thing not too long ago. I think a number of people said they have done it.

I haven't done it(yet), but it's not too terribly long on my new BX....on some tractors it seems like it would really be in the way.
Others have done it for sure.

Can't say I wouldn't ever. It's just a stick.

I shortened mine because it felt weird having my hand up that high all the time. on other machines I use it is located closer to the armrest. It just unbolts and i cut it a couple inches shorter.
