i have a four wheel drive l 4240 when i turn the key on to start it it starts as soon as i let go of the key it dies, shuts off , any ideas as to where to start, it seems like to start ok from cold start then problem when it warms up , it will start but might take ten or fifteen times any help would be appreciated

Sound like the hold side of the start solenoid is not holding, so it shuts itself off.

thanks that was one of 3 things i was thinking was the problem , i priced one today its 211.00 little pricey but if it fixes the problem then it would be cheap thanks again

Check fuses. Often the stop solenoid hold coil D2cat refereed to is powered in a fused circuit.

What transmission do you have as it makes a difference in some electrical issues.?
