I've been hanging out in the forum for a bit to see what everyone's take is on a Stump Bucket. As a newbie to the tractor world, I wanted to pick some veteran Kubota owners minds. I know each Stump Bucket has it's good qualities and it's bad qualities. I've seen a TON of youtube videos on all sorts of makes.. Artillian, Titan, Good Works Tractors, Cold Roll Industrial, and Everythingattachments. My question is.. which one is best, by experience, for Pine Tree stumps of around 15 inch in diameter. I've recently bought 10 aches of land and need to remove some for food plots. Any suggestions would be an awesome addition to making my final decision. Thanks

First off, Welcome.

I can’t help, but will follow along, as I could use a stump bucket once I start clearing some property myself.

Since your tractor is considerably larger than mine, take a look at a danuser intimidator tree puller/digger

Welcome. I don’t think an LX is big enough to take out stumps of 15 inch trees. Sure, you could dig around them for a while and eventually get them out.

You don’t have to remove all stumps to plant a food plot. How about working around them, or if you have a lot, rent a miniexcavator for a day/weekend.

I have the artillian stump bucket. Its fine for very little stuff, like 6" and under, it is not easy on the machine. you may be better off buying a grinder for your machine and just grind them. The stump bucket comes in handy for a lot of random things but removing a stump with it, isnt much fun, its limited.

15 inch is big. Too big for an LX2610 if there's any significant number of them. Too big for a mini-ex too. I did a stump that was maybe 12 inches with a mini ex. Took me about two hours. Sure, I wasn't very good at it so took longer than it should, but still, you'd be at it for a long time.

Other options:
- rent a big machine - probably a big excavator
- some other method to get them out of the way - probably a grinder, but you can burn them or some other things

That would involve sitting at a BH77 backhoe for as long as it takes, but it would do it. And the backhoe is there for myriad other tasks on the property the whole time, and once the stumps are out, too.
Getting just a stump bucket I guess it could be sold after it's purpose has been served. Depends on their re-sale value. Will there be other activities and development other than food plots on your 10 acres?

Unfortunately without a backhoe, removing a 15" stump is going to be challenging. I have tried to dig them up with my bucket and my grapple with limited success. I ended up turning to our retired neighbor who loves playing with his toys and having him come help me out.

Just for what it's worth. I have dead ash trees. Dead for a few years. The roots rot and some fall pulling the stump out. Others I have cut down. Like this one. My b2601 managed to dig this one out. Not the best grip but it worked! I plan on tackling a few more..hopefully with rotted roots!

This one about 10 inch stump was dug out. Hole dug little deeper. Stump turned upside down in the hole and buried
