Homestead grapples

Looking to purchase my first grapple for a lx2610, anyone have one? (HA HA). Already watched the you tube videos and read the specs and manual online. Looking for some real life experiences and maybe some EA comparison.. I also searched the forums for homestead and there doesn’t seem to be too much chatter... anyone have some words of wisdom on the subject?

Not homestead, but I placed an order with EA and am considering changing my order to the double lid 322 55” from precision manufacturing.

It is nearly identical to the EA in weight, build and size. Biggest difference is twin lids and it has a larger opening.

Hmm. Add-on grapple for forks. Do they come with electric actuation by any chance? That'd be a cool way to get a sort of grapple by extending my forks.

vs EA $2,200 16 weeks smaller opening and single lid.

The one from PM is made with AR400 steel vs EA which uses AR450. I don’t know how meaningful that is though.

I think the 400 vs 450 refers to the hardness rating, higher is harder.

I doubt it matters. Big differnce IMO is the 2 lid vs single and the opening range difference.

Note that right now they have a coupon code with tractor time with Tim. It’s 5% off. It’s “TTWT” I think.

I know im really tempted to switch my order from EA to PM.
i agree on the hardness, but i dont know how quantifiable 400 is to 450 and how that translates to real world abuse.

I was in the market recently for a compact grapple for my L3901, the loader capability is very similar to your LX2601. I have lots of attachments including larger grapples for other machines. My goal was to buy a lower cost twin lid compact grapple that did not weigh too much. After much research I selected a CV 60 model grapple from MTL Attachments for $999. I ordered it on Christmas eve and received it 3 months later!

I see they are currently in stock and the price including delivery has risen to $1,199 (steel has gone up!).
It is not AR400 steel and is not as light as an EA grapple but for the cost and the twin lid performance it is amazing value for money and is working well for me in my woodland work. I highly recommend you consider one. The 60" wide model has a serial number tag that states the weight is 350lbs, there is a lot of loader performance left to lift what ever I plan to use it for.

A bonus is that the cylinders are on the back of the frame rather than on the top of the lids, I like this design for protection.

How do the turf tires perform when lifting loads, I wanted them originally but was told that the load rating isn’t as high an puncture easier.. so now I am going to need to research tire chains, never ends I guess.

This is my winter home use (snow blowing) and rest of year woodland tractor, its the only one I have with turf tires. At home I have a lot of lawn and have to have the turfs. I'm surprised how well the turfs work in the snow, they are great, for wood and field work I have found them OK, no issues so far. I don't run them in wet mud or slopes so I cannot comment. When I purchased the tractor I was seriously considering buying a second set of AG rims and tires,but as you can guess they are not cheap. I have an L3200 and a MX 5800 with AG tires but often end up working my woods and fields with the L3901 with it's Turf tires on.

I've never checked the load ratings of turfs Vs AG, I've used my loader to it's max and had no issues but guess I'm usually driving short distances just to unload vehicles or trailers. I'm sure the turfs are not as tough as the AGs when it comes to a puncture.
