Tomorrow is youth turkey day here in legal marijuana land.
Maine past the law last your crossbows are legal to hunt with now. I got my daughter one for Christmas and we've practiced some. I took the online crossbow course and bought a crossbow license for myself in order to take her hunting.
Never using a crossbow before it really hammers the arrows(bolts) in at 40 yards out and is always dead on. So God willing I'll call one in for her in the morning.

Good on you.
I’ve been out most mornings here. With an arra is definitely more of a challenge. I seem to do best aiming for his ‘six’ from behind, when throwing arras at ‘em.
Good Luck

Got a crossbow for whitetail deer hunting several years ago. Much longer season with bow. Pretty easy to become functionally proficient if you already know how to shoot a rifle. A few differences but not much. Hope you and your daughter have fun and bring back a long beard.

When I was a youngster, we didn't have wild turkeys.

Pretty popular sport now. We've got a lot of them. I don't hunt anymore.

In the spring, I shot woodchucks...the 4-legged variety.....

Saw a dozen birds right near the road this morning. Couple Toms all puffed up. Toms looked good sized, but 30 yards off the road.

Not up this way, 1"+ snow @ 30F, more like a duck hunting day!

We had spitting snow in the valley where we are, but I heard some places up in elevation ad 2" on the ground....too late for that.
