How heavy of a trailer can a L3301 pull?

looking to get a 10k gvwr dump trailer; wondering if my tractor would be able to pull without breaking something when it's fully loaded.
probably with a 3pt hitch adapter.

i see the rear lift capacity is just under 2k lbs, and should need about 1.5klbs for 10k trailer.
i've pulled my truck out of the mud with it before... so... should be ok?

Remember too when looking at this clip from the manual that you need to be able to ‘stop’ it too - so I wouldn’t try it myself (especially going downhill) since you likely are only using the tractor’s brakes. And a 3-point hitch adapter doesn’t allow you to keep the tongue ‘down’ in the event it wants to rise up on ya, whereas the drawbar would.

This is not comparing apples to apples but in the owner's manual under "Implement Limitation" for my L2501, under "Trailer" the max load is 2200 pounds and the max weight on the drawbar is 730 pounds.

I think those numbers are very conservative. But an empty 10,000 pound dump trailer is about all I would want to drag around often. I do not know the terrain in your area but if you have hills then your trailer should be under 75% of your tractor weight. Stopping the trailer is as important as pulling it.

Also remember the 3 point mounted hitch has nothing holding it down so if you load the rear of a trailer heavily the tongue can come up without any notice and be very dangerous.

Pulling a heavy trailer on "flat" ground is easy ...... Hell I have seen a man pull a train car with his teeth.......

BUT the ability to stop it where ever needed is an entirely different problem.

Not a good idea.

Even if it can pull it in certain conditions, traveling downhill would be very dangerous. The tractor brakes are not designed for such usage and towing overhauling loads from the three point hitch can cause the lift to raise allowing the hitch to disconnect. Operators have been killed in this way.

Stopping the trailer is easy IF you wire the tractor up for 'manual trailer brakes'. All you need an inline fuse(10A), pushbutton(10A) and a 7way RV style connector. Push the button to power the trailer brakes. 'pulsing' it will mimic a 'brake controller'. Old skool .but it works. if you wanna get fancy, just wire in a real brake controller.

My first thought too.

AND you do not have to fill the trailer to capacity, at least until you feel comfortable with the tractor's performance in your situation.

I have pulled a 5x8 dump trailer weighing about 4000 lbs loaded with my BX with the only issue being loosing traction going up slopes. ( Couple hundred trips) BUT loaded it was either up slope or level. I did not wire the brakes into the tractor because I was not doing any loaded downhill travel.

YMMV, but you could scale my experience upwards to match your tractor size.

We have a 7,000lbs trailer that I will pull around on the farm. We use it on my tractor and my dad's MF383. Like others have pointed out, pulling the trailer isn't the issue, stopping can be a challenge. Knowing your property is important and each person's property can vary greatly and determine what you can and can't pull safely.

I've pulled my 12' dump bed trailer, 10K capacity, all around my steep mountain property, but the load was only sagebrush. On the level, I just finished a big fencing project that required me to pull a 4000 lb load, couldn't really tell it was there and it sure saved me a lot of manual labor. L3301
