40-50 HP buying advice

Hey guys like many posts before this one I need some assistance.

Currently own a 1025r. I have a family member with a 4066r I feel pretty accustomed to the deere line but not Kubota. I was using the 1025 around the house it has a belly mower and for mowing of course but I no longer need the mowing aspect and I'm starting to use the tractor for work and it's underpowered. I'm ready to make the switch.

I'm looking for something probably in the 40 to 50 horsepower range. Something I could still use around the house so not too big. I would like to still be able to put it in the garage. Needs to be four wheel drive open station. Would prefer hydrostatic. I'll use it around the house for firewood cutting grading tilling etc. For work I'll use it for grading driveways pushing snow etc.. I'll be mowing with a zero turn at the house now so don't need a mowing component.

there seems to be a lot of crossover in the horsepower ranges and I've done a bit of research but I'm still coming up a bit confused on what would be the best tractor for me.

Not sure if you are speaking of engine or PTO HP, but at 53 PTO HP, the L6060 is direct competition to the 4066R. If you like the 4066R, you will probably like the L6060.

I shopped both a few years ago before buying my L6060.

Thanks for the reply. I do like the 4066. I do not like the brakes on it ha. It's a cab machine and the visibility from the cab to the loader arms in my opinion is terrible for hooking up implements. It might be a little big for what I need I don't want to lose maneuverability just around the house. But I'll definitely take a peek at that machine. I appreciate it very much.

Look at the MX 5400. If you are also looking at an equivalent John Deere I would be curious about the price difference.

I just picked up a l4060le (40hp) which is a step up from my l2501 which you can get in a 39hp. The 2501 was very maneuverable around the house and woods but my first impressions on the 4060 has alot of the creature comforts for a long day on the tractor. Its definitely a larger but very nimble as well. The turning radius is not much larger either. The 2501 was a very capable machine it just took a little longer to do some bigger jobs. I maintain 12 acres with my equipment for a comparison and I started with a b7510. This is the third orange I've owned and I don't think I'll ever go with anything else. Best of luck!

My Gl4060 has been all over my yard and I think it’s pretty nimble. I would like to have a little more lift height and capacity but I can live with it.

As long as you are looking, I agree that the L3901 might be a good option for your needs too.

How do you feel about the lift capacity of the 3901? My little 1025 has very little lift capacity which is another reason for investigating an upgrade. I often am exceeding it's lift abilities. Probably my biggest concern is how light the 1025 is. Without a solid amount of ballast it's a roll hazard. Something I don't want to continue to deal with. Too many instances of almost rolling it.

The 2501 33 and 39 all have the same la525 loader. The math is multiply 2.2 by the loader model and that gives you the lift capacity at the pins I believe. The l3560 and up have the option for 2 different loaders, the la805 is the largest loader available for those models. Imo you will always be able to exceed the capacity of the tractor/loader no matter how big it is. The mindset is bigger tractor can do more. Ballast on the back is never a bad idea no matter what. An implement on the back will always help if not just a weight box. For all purposes I just got the l4060le with the 805 fel and gave 31,500 with r4 tires loaded. I do not have the fel yet because of inventory issues but I can say I mow hills and the 4060 is much more stable on a side slope than the 2501.

Lift capacity for the L3901 ( Bucket pivot pin, max height ) is 1131 lbs. I have rimguard tire ballast and usually a box scraper for added ballast with ag tires at the widest setting. It doesn't sound like you will have a problem with this capability.....bigger and heavier is better, if you do indeed need it.

I'm happy with my L4701. Was a pretty big upgrade from my 24HP New Holland.

Besides the MX5400 which I like a lot, consider the Grand L4060 or Grand L4060 Limited Edition.

Spoke with the dealer the 4701s are easier to get in my area vs the 3901. I appreciate the help guys.

My dealer had it on order already and it was the only one in his first delivery. It was there ,setup and to my house 3 weeks after I told him I wanted it.
