The connectors they have on your wiring are not the best. They will work for awhile but you will soon have problems due to the corrosion in the connectors.

Electric for sure. Will need a brake controller in your tow vehicle. BigG correct. Water, road grime and corrosion will soon cause brake and probably light issues. Replace your snap type connectors with heat shrink butt connectors. Google them if unsure what they are and how to use. Should be able to get at any home supply store or electrical store. Most use a heat gun or good hair dryer to seal. Also do your light connections for trouble free trailer use.

be sure copper is CLEAN and ,well, 'coppery' BEFORE you crimp ! I prefer to solder though.
also brush and paint those rusty areas while you're under the trailer....including the ubolts, plates, etc.
trailer must be new...it's soooooo clean under there !

Awesome. I will get the connectors protected or replaced. Thanks so much for the help
There’s no ”protection” that will rid those type splices of their short-comings and unreliability except to remove them and use butt splices or solder them IMO.

Hate to say it, but your onion is fact... Scotch-locks are a temporary fix, at best. They will fail. Just a matter of time!

A crimp type butt connector with heat shrink is good, but a correctly soldered and heat shrink-protected joint is the best you can do. You’ll tear that apart long before it fails due to fatigue...
