I've seen thumbs for backhoes that do not use a 3rd function. It seems like a good idea so I wonder if anyone
is using one of these? BX expanded had one and there are other cheaper on ebay. It seems it would work by
providing a stationary platform to trap whatever is being picked up. It would not be a grapple but it seems
that it would allow for an easier way to pick up larger limbs, rocks, etc. These do not require any changes in
the bh...just bolt it on. And, that raises other questions...would the bolts hold or would the whole thing slip
around? Thanks for input if anyone has some.

A better name than thumb may be "back saver!" Thanks for the vids. I have a BX23 and BX expanded has one for this model. I'm certainly considering one. I believe I would trust BX expanded more than a cheaper model on ebay. Some of those don't have very good reviews. Thanks again. Don't sit on your thumb...enjoy it!

Been using my Titan bolt on Thumb. It is an excellent fit and worth it!! $147 delivered, well made and very adjustable...have picked up hundreds of rocks and logs each weighing hundreds of pounds. No slippage.

Good to know, POS. I wondered if those things would loosen and slide up and down if not actually bolted through the dipperstick . . Looks like you've answered that question.

FYI: mine is resting against the dipper stick pivot plate, so there is no way for it to slide towards the operator.

I have the thumb on my BX23s, dealer installed. Worth every penny. I have moved rocks that I didn’t think there was anyway my little machine could move. If I couldn’t lift it, I’d clamp it with the thumb and drag it out to where I could use my bucket to flip it into where I wanted it.

Other than those 2 giant ones, I moved all the rest of those.

some of these ones, I had to actually fill my bucket with dirt so I could pick them up and keep my front wheels on the ground.

may sound dumb but to practice; I dropped my loader bucket beside a pile of smaller rocks and picked them up, dropped them in the bucket. Then reattached the loader and dumped Them where I needed them. Did about 2 loader bucket loads. Then started on the bigger stuff.

Not dumb at all, in fact, pretty smart. Sadly, I don't have the easy connect loader. :-( But, I can find a way to practice, too. I'm going to be moving some fallen trees, etc., some rocks perhaps...probably anything I can get a grip on! :)
