Hey guys, I am in the market for a 48” box blade and called the dealer for a price on a landpride one because I have heard mixed reviews about the design flaws on the Tartar and Kingkutter. The dealer recommended the BB1248 instead of the BB0548. He said its heavier duty and the BB0548 is nearly impossible to get right now. Do you think because its really meant for class 1 hitch that I will have issues. The price was $830 with free delivery to my house which I think is a decent price. Any advice would be appreciated.

Congrats,

I'd suggest looking here: https://www.everythingattachments.com/Tractor-Box-Blades-Box-Scraper-Grader-Box-s/85.htm

Many of us have the extreme duty box blades from everything attachments. Not sure where you are located but they also offer "free shipping" depending on how far you are from them in NC.

They build very heavy duty stuff, and you can get it in Orange paint as well. There are several types to choose from. There is a "landshark" style marketed to BX sized tractors that is still heavy duty with clevis style 3 pt connections.

I have the BB1260 for my 2830. Best choice I made.

Your BX should be Cat 1 also. Should be no issue, as evidenced by MFFI422 with same model.

I bought the BB0548 when I bought the BX two and a half years ago. Works great and IMO very heavy duty.
I think a five foot would be a little too much for the BX

A standard Cat 1 implement on a BX has limited motion. The tractor's arms are halfway up when the implement is level and grounded. The Cat 1 implements made for subcompacts have standard dimensions, except the hitch is 3-4 inches closer to the ground when the implement is level.

I've got a subcompact Cat 1 box blade and a standard Cat 1 rear blade. There is about 4 inches difference in pin height when level. When the rear blade's frame is level, I can only lift the blade about 6-8 inches before reaching the end of travel. I can shorten the top link for many jobs and get more lift, but if I am doing some changing-angles blade work there are difficulties when the blade frame isn't level.

I have the 5' box blade. Used it the past few days on my gravel drive. 2380 handles it perfectly.

I’ve never used a box blade but I thought maybe a little hangover on each side would be ok. Yes or no?

Yes. Ideally, you'd want it wide enough to cover your tracks.
