I have the OEM stock turf tires on my BX2200.

I priced ag tires from my dealer and after I could breath again, I came here...

Front: 18x8.5x8
Rear: 26x12x12

Anyone had any luck matching up after market tires? I know the pit falls of not getting the front/rear ratio correct. And the little tractor is in 4x4 all the time.
My tires are in bad shape I already have tubes in three of them. I would really like a new more aggressive tire.

Can anyone point to what they have done? What, where...

thanks

Looks like you could get HDAP's, R14's or Versa Turfs but you would need to upgrade to 10" front wheels. Do you just need tires more aggressive than turfs or will you constantly be in slop that requires ag tires? I have had HDAP's and R14's on separate machines and found both to be great all purpose tires.

My question is did you get a price for tires from your dealer's parts department or the sales department. There is a difference of a few hundred dollars depending on which department you got the quote from. The sales department is going to be much cheaper than the parts department. Last year I bought the same size tires you listed on your post from my dealer's sales department for just under $500.00 for all four tires mounted on new wheels. That was for turf tires but I am pretty sure that the price for AG tires is very close to that amount.

I got the rear ones but the fronts were not available at the time so I got a different brand all-terrains 4 ply. These are 6 plies, both front and rear. The traction is about 85% of the R1's in the muck, much better ride (do not feel like riding on square tires on pavement) and so far seem to be gentler on the grass that R1's which destroyed my lawn during the wet season. If you can get them as a set, might be cheaper.

I called two local dealers to get prices, both quoted the exact same amount.
Neither included mounting or wheels, this is just out the door tires.
I was sent to the parts department by both dealerships.

"Bar" type $672
Turf type $512

I do not use the tractor to mow with. I don't drive it on paved roads.
I had not planned to buy new wheels.
I use it a lot in the woods, and to upkeep our long gravel drive.

I have bought mower tires from my local tire shop, I think I'm going to talk to him.
I was considering buying a set off E-bay with the correct size and matching tread?

If your set on the ag type tires, here are some from Amazon. Looks like it would be ~$383 plus tax for just the tires.

For whatever it is worth (and perhaps you already know this), get the "gear ratio" from Kubota, so that you will know it if the new tires are correctly sized. The front tires should cover slightly more ground than the rears to maintain good steerage in 4WD. I was surprised to learn that the "gear ratio" on my B2650HST is 1.672. I would not have guessed it to be that. As you know, The "front lead" is only an issue in 4WD. I am sure that you have good reason to use it all the time, but a lot of people only use 4WD when needed because there is bound to be some kind of extra tire wear (however minor) in 4WD. I have attached an interesting article on tire selection that might be of interest to you.

In the past, a set of 4 tires used to be purchased from the sales department from an area called “whole goods.” You bought a set of four tires mounted on rims ready to go. I did this for my BX 2200 years ago. I bought a set of ag tires to replace turf tires.

Others have reported doing exactly the same thing more recently but I can’t remember how long ago the most recent post was. Could be a couple years.

In any case, maybe somebody can chime in with their experience buying a set of tires through whole goods more recently.

As you said, you were given the parts department price, which historically has been much higher than whole goods Pricing.

Does anyone know if the Kubota whole goods option still exists?

Here is the invoice for a set of 4 tires on the rims from Kubota whole goods from the sales department at my local dealer last year. BTW, whole goods sales still exists. I use them all the time. If the dealer tries to direct you to the parts department tell them that you want the sales department and ask for the tires on the wheels from whole goods sales.

Part Number Line Description Ordered B/O'd Shipped List Net Each Amount
ABXR8771 KTCP F TURF BX2370/ 2670 2 2 $90.00 $90.00 $180.00
ABXR8712 KTCP R TURF BX2370/2670 2 2 $135.00 $135.00 $270.00

Invoice Total $450.00
Tax Type 3407-Yelm
Tax Rate 9.1000%
Tax Amount $40.95
Sales Tax Total $40.95
Grand Total $490.95

Wow that's a substantial difference. OP said parts wanted $512 for the tires alone.

As I stated in an earlier post there is a couple hundred dollars difference between whole goods sales and the parts department.

AND the price is probably very reasonable as well. I paid $300 plus sales tax for a set of AG tires on wheels for my BX2200 about 18 years ago... $450 after this much time is likely cheaper than I paid in inflation adjusted dollars.

I priced tires at Les Schwab Tire, Discount Tire, Amazon, Walmart, and a couple other on line tire dealers. None of them even matched the price of the tires from Whole Goods sales.

Considering that the tires came mounted on new wheels I could not find a better deal anywhere. The tires I bought are the same size that the OP is looking for so the price should be very close to what I paid.

I need to put tubes in my bx 2200 rear. 25-12-12. Where did you get these?

I thought my BX 2200 rear tires were 26 – 12–12. I’ll have to check next time I’m down the shed…

Edit: Guess my memory isn’t as questionable as I thought. From the parts list:
