Didn’t think we would reach 50 hours until after winter. Well, winter has been rough this year so far, we’re approaching the interval. Would it be permissible to run past the 50 or not? Tractor has been used mostly for snow removal, very little in summer. A lot of the hours were spent warming up in cold. Thoughts

There are quite a few folks on here with more mechanical knowledge than me, but the break in process and initial maintenance after are quite important to the long term life of the machine. It isn’t hard to do yourself if you have a decent place to do it. I would be very hesitant to not spend a couple of hours taking care of the 50 hour requirements. Just my opinion.

50 hours is simply a number - I have seen people NOT change anything and run 300 hours, not recommending that .....but 60 hours will not hurt either!

Considering your geographic location, and the fact that the upcoming weather is less than fine, I’d leave well enough alone for the time being. It won’t hurt as long as all fluids are at the proper levels.

The first service is important but there is nothing magical about 50 hours.

Waiting until 60 or 70 hours is one thing but 250 or 300 hours is quite another.

My dealer did the 50 hour change, but we couldn't get it scheduled for a little over a month and I had 68 hours on it by the time I got it there. I asked them would it effect the warranty or anything like that, they said no. As others have pointed out, a few hours over is different than a few hundred hours over.

I appreciate everyone’s input. I purchased the the oil and filters to do the work, it just isn’t a great time to do the work. The levels are up and will get it done when temperatures moderate a little. Guess it’s a sign of age, just not appealing to play around in a cold-damp barn... Thanks again.

Well given the number of people that run into troubles getting the filters off for the first time, it would be awful if you got part way through the process and had to search Buffalo for an additional tool to unscrew the filter that has been welded on at the factory....

Thats a big 10 4 on that Sheepfarmer, some of those factory boys know how to tighten a filter for sure.

glennsorange, but sure to have the new filters in hand when you go to change them in case you break the old one removing it.

There are several 4 letters words that I do NOT like to use as I have gotten older...........

No - I still use those........

these:

C O L D
W I N D
S N O W

those words make working on a tractor no fun at all!!!!

Like others said - find a warm day - have all your stuff together and it will be an easy task!
