Can I use 1 year old diesel?

I have 5 gallons of diesel that's been sealed in a plastic jug for 13 months. Can I use it in my tractor?
If not, how would I dispose of it? I can't just burn it here and I'm not aware of a place that would take it.

The fuel has been sitting in a non-heated garage, with no exposure to sunlight.

Could get a can of additive or conditioner to put in it but you should be able to use it

Why not use it? If it is not contaminated it should be good. If you have a doubt use a filtering funnel like Mr. Funnel. They filter water as well as other contaminants.

sure , use it ! I have a $15 'diesel fuel pump' and a $2 filter as my 'transfer' system. Runs off 12volts of course. Suck it all out except say 1" from bottom. Then 'blend' the old fuel with new. Say tractor's 3/4 full, top it up with your freshly filtered diesel. Use the 'bottom diesel' to start fires with or kill tree trunks.

Ok, it's in the tractor now!
Thanks. I did google a bit and some people expressed concern about old diesel, so I though I'd ask.

Unless it has algae in it, you should be good to go. Look at the fuel in a clear container, if it is clear or red and it is clear (not milky, dirty, blackened) you should be fine.

Probably all used up, but you could always mix it 50/50 with fresh, then add a bunch of C-tane boost

I would absolutely use it with no concern. I keep 30 gallons of Diesel at my farm property in 5 gallon cans. I try to rotate it, but things happen and it is not uncommon for a can to sit unused for a couple of years. I have never had a problem.
