So over the last few years I’ve been having issues, like other threads I’ve read about having to keep changing to a lower gear for loss of power. It finally got to the point that I ripped everything apart and split the machine. The clutch didn’t look that bad (never smelled anything) but I had the machine apart so I replaced it anyway. Put everything back together and still had the same problem, no power and long pause for reverse. Brought in in to Kubota to have the pressures checked. They said the clutch didn’t feel right. I asked them to check all the pressures and assured them the the clutch is working properly. They checked the pressures and advised me I had metal in the filters and the problem is internal to the hst. I split the machine apart again and removed the charge pump and hst. Pump and hst case had scoring and scratches all over. I called Kubota to inquire about the price for and hst case and new charge pump. They advised me, that hst is sold as a complete unit, can’t buy just the case. $3500.00 charge pump $500. I asked if I could just buy a new pump and have the case machined down 5/1000 to smooth it out, they said, it can’t be done. I asked why not? They said, you can’t do it. So I’m getting the case machined down 5/1000 anyway and giving it a shot, before pouring $3500 into it. Has anyone else done this? Or have any advice? 2002 b2710

I don't like the answer that you were given, "you can't do it". I cannot contribute any advice but I am very interested to know if you have success. That answer from the dealer sounds to me like BS. To tell a customer simply that you cannot do it without explaining why or what the possible repercussions would be is just plain blowing you off. Not professional at all.

The charge pump is just the "supply" pump for the hydrostat pump. Have you disassembled the hydrostat and examined the pump and motor assemblies?
I seriously doubt the charge pump is your problem.

Going to be pulling everything apart and cleaning all pipes, hoses, trans, high pressure pump, cylinders Everything!! I’ll let you guys know the outcome in a week or so. Going to take a while to make sure everything is clean and ready to go.

I have to remove all the metal filings from all the hydraulic system first, so I don’t ruin the new pump. So I’m going to clean everything and not take the chances. Then do multiple oil and filter changes. As long as I notice a difference. I’ll keep you guys posted
