So I'm using the tractor, it has about 5 hrs on it now. and the water in fuel warning comes on. I shut it down. The next day I get the manual out and grab a clean glass.
The separator looks like clean fuel.
I drain it into the glass and there is no water. I start to go through the steps and one is to turn on the fuel. As it happens, it was in the off position. It's been that way since I picked it up.
My-bad for not knowing in the first place. I'm still learning it.
I followed the steps and fired it up. No lights or buzzer.
I just don't know why it ran. And can the fuel being shut off cause the light?

I do not know your particular model of tractor MX5400HST but see this feature in the advertising literature.

I am not clear on your question. Was it should the tractor have been prevented from running when the light was on? OR should the tractor engine not run since it was being supplied with water instead of fuel?

I would not expect there to be an interlock to stop the engine from running.

It is possible the switch assembly is malfunctioning.

I'm curious how it ran with the fuel switch in the off position.

I could see maybe a minute or so from the fuel in the system already (don't know how much there is), but definitely not 5 hours. A mystery for sure.

Out of 5 hours total on the tractor, how many were there before it was delivered? How many minutes or hours were added by the swpflipper?

So you know. It had 1.8 hours on it when I got it. I arrived at the dealer and the mechanic was finishing up the 3rd function install. He was running it.
When he finished he pulled it up to my trailer and I loaded it.
Once at my yard I was the only operator.
The fuel water warning light made me shut it down.

The valve may have been partially open, enough to keep it going.
